Very Good Receiver Overall, but Know All Features!

Overall, this is a good receiver and I have come to be very happy with it. However, there are some very important things that a prospective buyer needs to know about it first; I didn't know these things when I bought it but fortunately I was able to...

Sound quality is great ; Setup and configuration were very simply ; Great On-screen display ; vTuner is a nice option for Internet streaming audio

No have for cons

Lasts 2 Years

Offered a rich feature set at a comparitively low price point

The trade-off for the low-price point appeared just after the 2 year warranty expired---the audio quit across all of my inputs. Googling the issue, you'll find this is plaguing many owners at the same 2 year mark

Discontinued, thank whomever!!!

The fact that it failed just before 4 birthday celebrations in our household just adds to the stinky mess that is Onkyo...

Worked fine until warranty period expired ( 2-year ). Purchased in July 2011, sound output failed October 2013. Heavy online reporting of failed HDMI PC board. Major product flaw, Onkyo should acknowledge and offer replacement. This was my first, and...

Read pros ; My previous receiver was a Sony which lasted 8 years with no problems whatsoever....hmmmm. Traded for a Ludwig Black Beauty snare drum

Onkyo 5.1

For the price its an excellent receiver. Onkyo just released new models probably fixing all these issues but it sounds great and over all its a good product. If you can catch it on clearance like i did you'll be thrilled, if you paid full blown retail...

Great sound, many features, USB in the front, iPod friendly. Mainly bought this for the front USB and HDMI inputs and output and to stream pandora radio. Audessy speaker set up with mic is really easy and makes a huge difference, pretty happy with this...

I've noticed a few bugs others have been complaining about too. The HDMI out to the tv flickers if you have your cable box set to the highest picture output which i'm assuming is 1080i/p, i've set the box to 720i/p and i haven't noticed the problem...

Great Sound

LG 55" 240Hz LED edge-lit, with Polk Monitor 60 (front) Monitor 50s (rear) simple yamaha as the center.

Played PS3 for a few days... GREATNESS! Played movies (Pirates 3)... GREATNESS! Easy set up. Spent more time stripping wire than setting the audio EQ and HDMI inputs ; Much HIGHER in stance than most receivers. But if you have the room, who cares

Having issues running Computer audio through Fiber! Wish it was as easy as my Yamaha, just plug, scroll and play. Maybe it's an operator error... Not sure, but the manual is not very clear on the how to

Amazing features and sound quality

Now I want to buy another one to replace my 4 year old Onkyo receiver.

The setup with Pandora is great. Other apps not so much ; But the sound is amazingly clear and perfect ; The TuneIn app would be a great addition to the internet options ; The iPhone app for controlling is also fabulous ; Love it

The printed labels / lettering on the front of the black receiver is too small and light colored and difficult to read

Long time listener, first time caller.

I buy stuff from newegg all the time and rarely comment on anything. This thing sounds amazing, simplifies control and wiring of all of your devices, lets you use a remote control and on screen display to control your ipod, connects to Pandora, and oh...

It wasn't expensive, so there must be something wrong with it

ONKYO TX-NR509 5.1-Channel Network A/V Receiver

Easy to set up. I love the remote control. I was able to easily program my blue ray player and led hd tv. I am glad I purchased this receiver. It works great for my living room

Onkyo = Quality

I bought this to replace my older surround sound Onkyo receiver because I wanted to incorporate the network switching capabilities for High Definition Video/Audio integration with my HD TV and keep my old Onkyo components. Installation Tips: This...

Simply outstanding audio across the board at low and high volume levels. Great looks, quality build, with ample power for my LR setup. Connectivity was easy and the 4 HDMI inputs and 1 out was perfect - no more 5 lead inputs anymore. The audio is...

Nothing big but it does not have an integrated pre-amp for my turntable so I need to get an adjunct unit which somewhat defeats my quest for total integration. I did not gig this product for this as I found many manufacturers have dropped this feature

Great reciever

I saw the other reviews about the analog switching, but I haven't tried them. I've always connected the Wii directly to the TV's input because I didn't want to bother with all the extra cables. Not really a con, because it's like connecting an old VCR...

This is my first network receiver, and wow do I like it. It sounds great and has a lot of features for the money ; The app for this device works great on both Android and IOS. However, the Android app is a little better because it has the added feature...

None for me, really enjoying it
