Onkyo TX-NR609

Onkyo has a reputation for delivering tons of features and high-end performance at a budget price, and in many ways the TX-NR609 fits the bill. It's packed with six HDMI inputs (including a front-panel input), built-in networking (plus an optional...

The Onkyo TX-NR609's extensive collection of built-in streaming apps makes it an excellent choice for buyers who don't need AirPlay compatibility. It also has six HDMI inputs, including a convenient front-panel input, and we appreciate Onkyo offering a...

There's no built-in AirPlay support, so the Onkyo TX-NR609 wouldn't be our top choice if you have an iOS device. It also doesn't sound quite as good as the Pioneer and Denon, especially using the automatic speaker calibration

The Onkyo TX-NR609 has six HDMI inputs and lots of built-in streaming music services, but it lacks AirPlay and doesn't sound quite as good to our ears as some competitors.

"Onkyo TX - NR609 User Review"

I purchased this receiver after about a month of research on internet forums and in local stores. I've owned the receiver for a week now and i'm very pleased with my purchase. I upgraded from a Sony STR-K700 home theater in-a-box (5 years old), which...

"609 makes a great AVR to run your home theater"

Plenty of hdmi inputs for all ur devices, plenty of sound modes to choose from as well. Setup is quick and easy. You also have plenty of online music choices as well. 4 someone that doesn't have a infinite budget the 609 is defiantly deserves a look.

No AirPlay obviously, BUT with no complaints I use an apple tv. These other receivers don't AirPlay video so you still need an apple tv so you aren't missing out. Use the USB plug in if you don't have apple tv. That is my only issue with the 609.

"Onkyo TX-NR609"

This unit should be plan B if you are going to buy a reciver. I whould look at some others first. I have call the company left my phone along with the problem. Been 4 days now no return. I call back 1/7/12. This time it would not let me leave a number....

Plays will with my Tv that is all I can say.

THE SUPPORT COULD NOT BE ANY WORSE. I have a PS3 and every time I go to use it withe the 609 I have to go back and forth from game to dvd button until it clears up.It is like I have to track it just like the old VCR's .

"worth the money, entry level audiophile starter"

Great set up, the audessey mic does a fine job, and makes it easy, I now have the enviable job of becomming an audiophile to one dgree or another. from what i have read and heard this is a good first step in really hearing true sound, whatever that...

Price was very good on black friday :) set up was easy and straight forward. The system sounds good, very crisp, I hear sounds from movies I have watched previously, that I did not hear before, and this is with the same speakers!!!

Now I have to go out and buy some serious speakers, as my old Onkyo "home theater in a box" speakers that came with my 500 series onkyo receiver, do simply not do this justice, I think? biggest con I can see is that the remote is junk, but who cares!
