Onkyo TX-NR636

Let me pose to you a potentially leading question: is there any piece of home-theater equipment less sexy than a receiver? Useful, oh yes -- and it pays to get a good one -- but most of them are very, very unsexy. The Onkyo TX-NR636 isn't quite an...

The Onkyo TX-NR636 has a laundry list of features including Dolby Atmos support and High-Resolution Audio streaming; HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 means the receiver is potentially more future-proof than its competitors; very good sound quality; a phono input...

On-screen display is minimal and difficult to read; imposing external design.

The Onkyo TX-NR636 offers a compelling mix of features and performance with "future-proofing" that is unparalleled for the money.

A great, up-to-date receiver at a reasonable price

I was looking for a reasonably priced AV receiver for my second home when I noted that this was a new Onkyo receiver on Best Buy's website. It had everything that I was looking for, especially the built-in wifi. Setup and speaker calibration, with the...
