Onkyo TX-NR809 Wireless Network 7.2 A/V Receiver

Having both reviewed and owned several Onkyo receiver models over the last few years, I have come to expect an excellent product that is both packed with features and performs extremely well. The Onkyo TX-NR809 network receiver was announced in May of...

The Onkyo TX-NR809 is a fantastic value in its class. It offers excellent performance and a bevy of features that will make any home theater enthusiast happy. An MSRP of $1,099 may sound high, but when you consider that it can take the place of at...

My God! It's full of buttons!

When we get information about a new receiver, we're often hesitant. We know the manufacturer is going to try to impress us and consumers. Many times they do but sometimes they don't. The Onkyo TX-NR809 surely is an impressive receiver for the price....

Great product with a few unexpected limitations.

I bought this receiver mainly for the 3 zones of operation and availability of iPhone apps, both onkyo and third party. Overall I am happy, but I didn't realize that you can't send digital inputs to zone 2/3 (i.e. HDMI). You have to work around this by...

Save yourself the headache and $$

I bought the TX-NR807 a little over 2 years ago. On the NFL kick off night 2010, it crapped out. No sound whatsoever. It had to be shipped to a repair shop 400mi away. The repairs were covered under the 2 year warranty. Cost me about $50 out of pocket...

you'll be sorry

DO NOT BUY AN ONKYO AV RECEIVER. The company has really gone downhill in recent years. "Customer Service" is a joke - I'm still waiting for my extended warranty that I purchased in May '12. This particular unit, and the TX-NR series in general, has...

HDMI Board burned out in less than 1-year...

I had to use a switch and run on digital cable into the receiver to use it. A few months ago, the HDMI board burned out.

Fantastic Receiver

I bought this receiver August 2011 and have had nothing to complain about. I was convinced by my wife to go ahead and pull the trigger to buy this receiver. The specs and price (~$700) looked good but my only experience with Onkyo was a cheap system my...

Excellent value for a feature-filled unit

With features like automatic calibration, plenty of HDMI inputs, internet connectivity, ipod/iphone support and on-screen navigation, you can't go wrong with this unit. I recommend pairing with Polk speakers. Also, ditch monster cable and get extra...

Terrible experience

We purchased from Amazon but did not check within the 30 day window. The speakers did not work after hooking up to the reciever and then it shut down and began smoking! We must pay to ship to an Onkyo authorized repair center. Terrible.
