Onkyo TX-NR818

A/V receivers have become so powerful and feature rich over the last few years that upgrade decisions have become increasingly difficult to justify. But if you have a large collection of DVDs or use services like Netflix or Vudu to stream movies from...

Excellent audio performance ; Exceptional video upscaling ; THX Select2 Plus certified

Grey-on-black labels are very difficult to read ; No AirPlay support ; No digital outputs to support outboard DAC

Listening to the percussion-heavy “Piano Smasher,” from Blue Man Group’s DVD The Complex, made me us as though we were about to personally reenact the chest-burst scene from Alien.

Onkyo 2012 Midline Receivers Preview

It is easy to get excited about the $1000 TX-NR717 until you see what the extra $200 for the TX-NR818 gets you. Audyssey XT32, 13.5 extra pounds and 25 extra watts per channel, and lots more.

Onkyo has long been known for having the most features for the money in their receiver offerings and the TX-NR717 and TX-NR818 receivers are no different. It is easy to get excited about the $1000 TX-NR717 until you see what the extra $200 for the...

Onkyo TX-NR818

I have a lot of complaints about its sound. I have a musical education, so good I hear distortion. But as a universal device, this receiver is quite appropriate. AirPlay devices do not use. My previous Marantz sounded more comfortable, we can say perfect.

I purchased the Onkyo TX NR818 due to its mass amounts of features it has at this sale price. I dare you to find another receiver at this price with something even close to these specs. Setting and configuring up is a breeze using the onscreen guide. I...

24fps bug is fixed, no more stuttering. Excellent receiver.

Just an upddate to the review I made before where I complained about image picture stuttering - Onkyo finally released a firmware update and fixed it. Apparently receiver was switching to a strange 24 fps mode instead of 23.976 (anytime you reffer to...

Great sounding receiver!

I bought this receiver for my recently renovated basement tv room. I played around with the receiver a bit before using the MultEQ XT32 calibration to see if there would be much improvement. Before calibrating I played some music and watched a few...

Very easy to set up, lots of input options. The Audyssey setup was a cinch. A few minor tweaks for my room and movies sound amazing. Very happy with my purchase.
