Pioneer VSX-1021-K

When we visited with Pioneer at the CEDIA 2011 expo, our primary goal was to learn more about its new partnership with Sharp, its recent decision to license out the Elite brand name and have a look at the new Elite displays. But, as beautiful as the...

Very good sound quality ; Bluetooth Capable ; iOS device cable included ; Handy auto-calibration features

Expensive wireless adapter ; Limited internet music access ; One-year warranty

Pioneer’s VSX-1021-K shows that Pioneer is on top of its game by incorporating unique and innovative features, a user-friendly interface and excellent sound quality in a mid-level receiver that stands as a paradigm for the notion of value.

Pioneer VSX-1021-K

As impressive as that package sounds, it's still not quite enough to make the VSX-1021-K our top midrange receiver pick of 2011. The Denon AVR-1912 edges it out just slightly by also offering AirPlay, plus one more HDMI port, a two-year warranty, more...

The Pioneer VSX-1021-K's feature set is one of the best, with built-in AirPlay, five HDMI inputs, and DLNA compatibility. It can be networked via its Ethernet port or an optional Wi-Fi dongle, as well as controlled by Pioneer's iControlAV2 app for...

Pioneer only offers a one-year warranty, while competitors offer two. Many competitors also have one more HDMI port in a handy front-panel location. The VSX-1021-K has little built-in support for streaming music services compared with other models, so...

Pioneer's VSX-1012-K is an excellent AV receiver with built-in AirPlay and top-notch sound quality, but Denon's AVR-1912 is just a little better.

Pioneer Ups Apple's Ante With AirPlay-Ready Recei...

This network-savvy stereo plays nice with Apple gadgets and doesn't require an IT administrator or a bottle of Advil to get the ball rolling.

Flexible, wireless music options. Easy setup and configuration. AirPlay makes iTunes integration a breeze. Mucho features and solid sound quality for the bucks

No AirPlay video, just audio. RCA cable for video input from iPad. Physical remote control is what it is. You have to shell out extra coin for wireless options

Pioneer VSX-1021-K Receiver First Look Preview

The Pioneer VSX-1021 is a 7.1 channel receiver boasting 90 watts per channel, supports all the latest HD audio decoding, sports HDMI 1.4a connections, and has high quality 192kHz/24-bit DACs.

The Pioneer VSX-1021 is definitely full featured for its price point. Like other recent Pioneer offerings, the VSX-1021 is pushing hard to connect to your hand held and portable devices. At the same time they are providing the buzzword features that...

"Not happy ... can't see my Optomo monitor"

Even if I get a technique to get my Optomo monitor to work on Monday, I do not know if I will be keeping this unit based on all the other factors discovered, read about, etc. I am just not that big of an Apple enthusist to ignore what is really...

Airplay was attractive, but I am not as much a Apple freak as the next guy having moved on from iphone to droid but still carrying both! ;-) I loved it's 5-1 HDMI port and 7.1 speaker support. Price was good.

Did not support my Optomo projector! Can't use it!

"Excellent product, great sounds, easy setup and AirPlay"

Upgraded to the Pioneer receiver last Christmas, using it for the last 4 months and am very happy with the purchase. Was easy to setup and make all the connections, ARC pass thru took a little longer but it's awesome, especially watching Hulu or...

"Ease of Setup AMAZING! Full of features"

For frame of reference, this is my first AV receiver upgrade in over 10 years, so I may gush about features that are commonplace now. Also I have never used more than 5.1 until now, but moved to 7.1 at the same time as this purchase.

System sets itself up.

I have only owned this for less than 24 hours. Also have small home theater setup. Haven't had time to find the one or two design flaws that make you shake your head and ***? yet but I am sure they are there.

"The 1021 is awesome"

Get one, you will not be disappointed.

Easy set up, great features, and awesome sound.

None I haven't found anything wrong.

"Had high hopes but just OK."

The product descriptions make this sound like the best receiver since sliced bread. The implementation is a little lacking.

Love the ipad App but needs more features.

Airplay only supports audio. Why not Video?

"Great Unit at $300.00"

Great unit especially if on sale. Buy it! No reservations.

Airplay (i use wired ethrnet connection as I won't pay ANY company $150.00 for a $10.00 cost item. Poor business image building Pioneer. Try altering the price and watch the units fly for both the receiver AND the $35.00 wireless dongle.
