Pioneer VSX-72TXV

I was a fan of Pioneer based on the performance of this receiver, but once the HDCP signal failed and my TiVo HD & DVD player no longer worked through HDMI, the hassles began. Pioneer Support was quick to point the finger at the other products, but...

Great sound quality and fairly easy setup

The device stopped sending an HDCP signal after the warranty expired. The cost to replace the part was $500, which didn't make sense as the receiver cost $750

For a a high end "Elite" product, the lack of quality and longevity of this unit is astounding. And if they are going to make me pay for it, they could at least not rip me off on the repair. $245 for parts for something that shouldn't have broken in...

Looks good and feels substantial and solid -- it almost gives the impression of high quality. But don't be fooled

HDMI board broke after 3 years. Warranty only lasts 2. $386 repair on an $820 receiver. Asked for an exception and they won't do it. I AM NEVER BUYING PIONEER AGAIN. And on top of that, the remote control sucks. Too many small buttons, no backlight

After reading the (mostly) glowing reviews on this receiver, I went ahead and ordered it. I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the way it handles HDMI. I had the following problems:

Phono, XM and iPod inputs

nearly unusable if you have multiple HDMI inputs (like HDTV & DVD)

Tons of features, excellent sound, great remote control, it got the look

No illumination on the lcd screen for the remote, I wish ipod could have an itunes integrated for better managing of the songs, it is slow to change songs but I can live with it

I recently purchased this Home Theater Receiver for one reason! I wanted to be able to utilize my HDMI connections to my cable box and DVD Player. I was able to do so with my DVD Player without any problem. (A Pioneer DV-59AVI) However, the problem...

I've heard the sound is quite nice

Expected the HDMI inputs to work with my Plasma TV
