Roku LT

The Roku LT ($50) may be more than a year old, but it remains one of the home theater products we'd most recommend.

The Roku LT is a small streaming-media box that costs only $50. It offers hundreds of streaming-video and -audio services, including Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video, HBO Go, Vudu, Spotify, Pandora, Mog, Rdio, and MLB.TV. Roku also offers...

For those invested in the Apple ecosystem, the Roku LT doesn't offer the same tight integration as the Apple TV's AirPlay functionality. The Roku LT also lacks a YouTube channel. And there's no Ethernet port, so you'll need a solid Wi-Fi signal in your...

The Roku LT is a killer streaming-media box, offering tons of streaming content -- including favorites like Netflix, Amazon Instant, Hulu Plus, and Pandora -- for just $50.

Roku LT Review

ForewordWhen it comes to streaming media online there is no shortage of products available however when it comes to quality products at affordable prices, the market suddenly gets ...

Size ; Weight ; Design ; Speed

No advanced network settings ; Does not come with HDMI cable ; Channel Sign Ups

Let’s start out with getting the negatives out of the way then such as mot having advanced networking settings. This was a major let down for me in truth, I have a Sky Broadband service and they don’t (stupidly) allow you to change the DNS settings....

"Great interface & content. WiFi is diving me nuts."

Can't beat the price. Love the interface (much better than my Sony Blu-ray) and the available channels.

WiFi is very inconsistent. Will go for weeks with no problem, but if it somehow disconnects, it may take me hours to get it to reconnect. Wish it had ESPN3 and YouTube.

"Makes ANY TV a Smart TV"

One of the best "investments" I've ever made! Pull our your old "rabbit ears" antenna for free local channels and ditch cable. Roku is all you'll need. Have home movies, TV shows and music saved on your computer? Download the PLEX media server to your...

$50.00!!

Works best with high speed broadband. Lower quality picture with lower speed internet. No NFL or YouTube

"A-1 all the way"

I've tried various streaming devices and also Windows Media Center on a VERY fast PC with high end dual video cards. None of them worked even CLOSE to as well as the Roku. DSL here is limited to 1.5 MBPS and all the other devices had stalling problems....

Streams more smoothly than any device I've tried.

Would be nice to have an ethernet (wired) port on the LT but the wireless N works well.

"This is the BEST device for the money you spend!"

This is the best gizmo for the buck. Highly recommended!

MLB @ Bat: I get all MLB games via this little device and love it. The most inexpensive device of this kind I know. Easy to install and run with. TWO thumbs up!

None for me.

"Thought it was going to be great, but..."

Returned the Roku. Could not tolerate it bogging down my network.

Streamed Netflix well. Easy to set up and configure.

Absolutely bogged down my network completely. When the Roku was playing, every other wireless device in my home would run either run extremely slow, or not run at all. I even sought help from Roku who did offer some possible solutions, but no luck.

"Can't go wrong. with Roku"

An excellent way to make that first step to break away from cable.

Easy to set up, good streaming WiFi, plenty of free feeds, has radio, music and streaming movies.

Choice of free movie feeds usually feature movies that are at least 3 years old. Some movies hang up in an endless loop between ads. Sports channels need to get on board.

"Very, very poor manufacturing quality."

My Roku failed just long enough after purchase so as to be out of warranty. (Warranty is 90 days.) I replaced it with a NeoTV NTV200 by Netgear, which is also inexpensive as these things go. The NTV 200 seems to be working OK. The variety of streaming...

A great variety of streaming material is available through Roku.

(These comments refer to a predecessor model, and not to the LT. I do not remember the model number of the Roku I owned. I can't look it up because I threw the damn thing away.)

"Great money saving device that's easy to use."

I love this little thing.

Cheap, Streams subscription and many free channels.

Wish it had the Ethernet port
