Truth is, I picked out this unit from among many alternatives because its depth was small enough (around 10") to fit on my 12" deep bookshelf. The Sony name gave me confidence to try it without checking it out in a store. I was not disappointed.

Easy to set up, nice looking panel, lots of switchable inputs, works as described, sounds good. Picks up am and fm broadcasts in my heavy-walled apartment better than a previous unit with a well-known name

Station tuning is inconvenient (no rotary knob) unless you use the remote to program your usual selections

Good Stuff

Great Product for a Great Price Simple to use

Auto Shut Off ; Portable Device Input ; Nice Remote Control ; Powerful Enough To Shake The Glasses Off The Shelves ; Simple Setup

I wish you could program the input names like on my other Sony but, we can't have it all for this price

Requires being unplugged

I've read reviews of people having the same power issue I'm having (see cons) and apparently a firmware update resolves this known issue. However - I bought this unit to sit in my pool house and power some bose 151 outdoor speakers and it really sounds...

looks brand new ; great sound paired with BOSE 151se environmental speakers

i've noticed when system goes into standby when no input is detected it will not power back on using both power button and remote.. Only way to bring back to life is to unplug device and re-plug. PIA cause you lose all your settings each time

Defies First Law of Thermodynamics

For a few bucks less (about $15 total) you can get pretty much the same amp on E bay. For a few bucks more you can get a 5.1 reciever.

200 W input power yields 270 W output!!! I wish the rest of the world worked that way. Hats off to Sony Engineers

As with all Sony recievers be careful as output is never adequately protected and power section will blow. Be careful with speakers

Excellent Value and Sound

I use this connected to my desktop PC driving a pair of large, 3-way ADS bookshelf speakers in a 12x14 room. Plenty of power - will play louder than I care to listen. More to the point, the sound quality is very good - I don\'t think you will find...

Legendary Sony Quality & Design

This is a straight forward, no frills 2-channel receiver IMO, the power rating spec is conservative, which is typical for Sony products. More than enough clean power for home use no matter the room size. I would recommend this unit to friends. Matter...

Good, solid, basic

Not many 2 channel stereo receivers around anymore yet that's all most of us need. This one does the job easily, without, with as many connections as you're likely to need and an uncluttered interface.
