Well for what I paid I guess I did ok. Now that I've had this reciever for a while though I can truely say, "I think its total junk." How can you guys write "Plenty of power"? 500 watts? HA. I have a set of cheap $100 Altec Lansing computer speakers...

Great A/V receiver, and an excellent buy. Not too heavy with bells and whistles, and those that are provided are not the best ones on the market. I've been using it for over two years with no performance failures. Plenty of power, and plenty of bass...

Diference Between SA-DX950 & SA-DX1050

I've heard SA-DX950 and SA-DX1050 with four SONY SS-MF600H 8 ohms speakears.... there is no diference .... They say that SA-DX1050 has less harmonic distorsion.....NOT TRUE !!!!...... The same sound and the same distorsion..... Both A/V receivers start...

This is a follow up to the review I gave back in 2001. I tried to replace this receiver with a Marantz 5300 (it has DolbyII and 6.1), but after one week I returned the Marantz ... it didn't sound as sweet as the Technics and it didn't seem to have as...

This is my follow up submitance for this product. In the 13 months I've had it, there have been no problems whatsoever and I have been very pleased with performance. I have to say that I've been contemplating upgrading to another rec't I'm gravely...

Good enough but not hi-fi

Good enough but not hi-fi

Remember that you get what you pay for. The SADX-950 is a good value, but is defenitly not an hi-fi system. The SADX-1050 will produce less harmonic distortion. On the other hand, if you do not plan to invest too much for the speakers (e.g. less than...

Not a bad Receiver

Not a bad Receiver

This receiver is pretty good for the price. I also own the sa-dx940 and sa-dx1040 They are all great and I have never had a problem out of any of them. The 940 and 1040 were known for producing alot of heat, but that seems to have been fixed in the...

Your friends will be jealous

I've had this receiver for 6 months, and it's great. I'm at college, and I was rocking a party with it. The cops even came by and told me to turn it down. If you want plenty of power and more options than you'll ever use for a great price, look no...

Product Specifications

SA-DX950 top-end receiver gives you multi-channel home theater surround sound with outstanding audio reproduction, even handling the ultra-high fidelity of DVD-Audio. In order to handle this, a receiver must be equipped with an amplifier circuit that can do justice to its wide frequency range and outstanding S/N ratio. This receiver is built accordingly, with the correct features to let you enjoy this thrilling next-generation audio experience. It has an amp power module that features an all-stage MOS-FET configuration. With most amplifiers, output is controlled by its input current, but MOS-FETs use voltage control to get an outstanding high-frequency response. This gives you an incredibly dynamic range of audio. SA-DX950 comes with a Dolby Digital/DTS decoder so you can experience the 5.1-channel digital soundtrack encoded on a DVD or laserdisc. With this decoder, you'll enjoy a remarkably natural sense of ambiance and dynamic realism. This receiver uses the Technics Times 5 concept, which provides the five main channels of your system with a total of 500W of Class H+ amplifier output. This means that when you watch movies recorded with Dolby Digital or DTS audio, you get a full reproduction of what the movie sounded like in the theater.
