Yamaha RX-V373 review

Yamaha has started 2012 from the bottom up, releasing its entry-level A/V receivers before unleashing the high-end kit in the summer. First to arrive is the RX-V373, which might only cost £250, but is packed with features designed to simplify your home...

A great entry-level amplifier, with the inputs and features you’d need for a basic home cinema setup

Yamaha RX-V373

Best home cinema amplifier up to £350, Awards 2012. A fantastic first step into the realm of 5.1 sound

Impressive dynamics and detail ; excellent effects processing ; four HDMI ins ; easy to use

Limited to 5.1 channels ; restricted streaming functionality ; no upscaling

If you’re looking to take a first step on the home cinema ladder and need to keep to a strict budget, then the RX-V373 will reward you in spades.

Avoid this product

Lots of features for the price

Fails to recognize HDMI. SD programs work fine, but HD channels have no picture just sound. I see alot of complaints about this on other forums. All have failed around 6-12 months of use. Buy something else! So far no support from Yamaha on this issue

Broken after 1 year

Works great when working

The unit will no longer connect to my television, it appears that the HDMI output is corrupted. I unplugged the HDMI cable and attached directly to my cable box and it works fine, so definitely the unit. Was able to fiddle with it and get it working,...

Great Receiver

Overall for the price I am very pleased with this unit and would buy again..

Nice Audio Video Interface ; Also love the fact it will play MP3 files from a USB Thumb drive

Sometimes a Device like my DVD player or Roku player will lockup when switching. Could be my DVD Player itself though

Fantastic, almost perfect

Fantastic budget receiver with HDMI pass through

Unfortunately I discovered a few things that are less than perfect, but overall it is great ; 1) No built in up-converting from analog to digital. My Wii has component output, but that will not upconvert and send out over the HDMI to the TV /...

After A Year

I won't purchase another Yamaha product due to this frustration. Plus, this occurred for the first time one month after my year warranty expired. First Sony, now this...who should I try next?

Expense to feature ratio is pretty good

I've seen this issue on at least one other review here, so it must be a common issue with this receiver. The receiver stops recognizing HDMI Input and requires reset back to factory defaults, reboot and then you're back in business ; RX-V373 Reset...

Value features

25 foot toslink lol..

Like the 2nd optical AV input. Using that to make use of playing mp3's out of a onboard realtek SC on compu.. That way I can listen to one card for my 2 channel dedicated music and If I want to switch it up I can run it on the Polk entertainment...

Nothing really so far considering the price was value/quality does what I wanted it to do. Had another yam little bitty speakers and passive sub for years. this is way better!! Thank you yamaha and newegg

Good receiver... once you work all the kinks out.

None so far.

Awesome sound. This totally beats the stuffing out of my 10+ year old Kenwood receiver ; HDMI switching is nifty.* (*more on this later) ; The YPAO automatic speaker setup is just AWESOME. Plug it in and get the mic into position... and the receiver...

I was frustrated with this receiver at first... I had my Panasonic Blu-Ray player and my Tivo Premiere connected via HDMI at first and everything seemed to be going well ; After about a day, I would power everything up (TV, Tivo, and receiver) to watch...
