Yamaha has come up trumps with another fine multichannel receiver in the form of the RX-V3900. But the price goes up on January 1st, so if you want one, now's the time to buy

Creates a superb spread of sound ; rich, welcoming presentation ; good specification

Some strong competition ? notably the Pioneer SC-LX81

Yamaha RX-V3900 demonstrates the strength at the best film playback but also works very well with music. It is considered a well-equipped receiver which is also very easy, thanks to Yamaha new OSD interface .

Hi Folks, just joined CNET, I'm about to purchase the RXV-3900 and I'm already appreciating the odd comments here, my current Amp is a Pioneer VSX-D903TX a THX Amp, I may miss the mode but I believe the 3900 will surly makeup for it in other areas!!

Coming

Also coming...but so far I guess the 3900 not having the THX mode could be a small minor issue...

I just love this piece of hardware

Awesome sound both for music and movies. The ABT2010 Videoprocessor makes wonders

Miss the THX sound fields that were present on my RX-V2600 ; Macrofuntion on remote is a bit akward

I purchased one of these awesome units a week ago from Clef Hi-fi in Melbourne. I live in Adelaide and they did this for $2050 delivered, including the Yamaha i-Pod dock.

Easy to set up ; Speaker set-up function is sensational ; Functions work well with a Logitech remote ; Excellent audio and video signals ; Huge range of connection options for your components ; Future proof ; at least for a while anyway

It's a big unit, especially the depth, and it runs hot. I'm just nit-picking though
