Logitech Harmony 600

Editors' note: The Logitech Harmony 600 has been discontinued, and is See CNET's Which Logitech universal remote is right for you? for updated comparisons and recommendations.

Powerful universal remote with great ergonomics; simple text-based LCD screen surrounded by five contextual buttons; Web programmable via Windows or Mac PCs; excellent button layout and overall design; supports custom sequences/macros; sub-$80 price tag.

Only controls five devices; requires Internet-connected PC to program; an additional $20 gets you the step-up model with a color screen and graphical icons.

If you can't spend $100 or more on a universal remote, the Logitech Harmony 600 is a great choice.

Logitech Harmony 600 Remote Review

Even though I've owned tons of audio/video equipment over the years, I've never had a universal remote. The best ones always were very expensive, and the ones I could afford never seemed to actually have enough buttons to handle all the functions of my...

An online setup utility programs the remote for you ; Nice button layout ; All functions are defined & accessible through the LCD screen if there are no permanent buttons for them ; Buttons and LCD screen are backlit ; Single-click buttons for...

"1 week and still don't have it working the way I like!"

Good remote once it is setup. Need to train the family on how to use it. While trying to set it up I would make changes then have to wait several minutes for the data to download to the remote.

If you download and install the software you can set sequences and customize the buttons.

After 1 week I still have not finished setting it up!

"Don't bother."

I hate having 3 remotes, I thought buying one to consolidate would be a "life saver". NOT. It's much faster to pick up a different remote then it is to wage through the menus of the Harmony 600 hoping you'll hit the right button. Mine is in a bottom...

It consolidates all of your remotes into one.

It will take 3 times as many button selections to get what you need, as opposed to using the remote for your actual device.

"Great remote for the money!"

Purchased in Dec 2011 for $39.95 at a big box store. The most difficult task was getting it out of the package. I have a Panasonic TV, Onkyo receiver, Sony Blu-Ray player and a Motorola cable box. The setup online went smoothly. It works as advertised....

Easy online setup, self-corrects after intial setup to coordinate all components as desired,

No cons at this time

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE - BEWARE

Okay so let me make it perfectly clear this is my first universal remote, and I am always careful with my things. 1. PROS Screen is easy to read, using the "help" button when something wasn't working correctly was easy to handle. 2. CONS Had to use...

1.) Screen is easy to read ; 2.) Lightweight ; 3.) Batteries last about 3 months under moderate use. Is that a pro ; 4.) Terrible Customer Service

1.) EXCEEDINGLY fragile ; 2.) SLOWWWWW ; 3.) Only handles 5 devices

Fantastic affordable option!

This is a fantastic way to get in on the Harmony line on a budget. Saw this one on sale at Radio Shack for $50 and had to snatch it up. Does everything I need it to, controls my DirecTv HD DVR, Sony receiver, Panasonic TV, and MacBook Pro right now,...

"frustrating remote"

It is good when it works. Often, pressing the Watch TV, Watch Movie or some other activity button does nothing. Then it I have to press the "help" button and answer a bunch of questions. At that point, it seems better just to walk up to the TV and turn...

controls TV, home theater, blu-ray, Appletv
