Logitech Harmony 600 review

Editors' note: The Logitech Harmony 600 has been discontinued, and is See CNET's Which Logitech universal remote is right for you? for updated comparisons and recommendations.

Powerful universal remote with great ergonomics; simple text-based LCD screen surrounded by five contextual buttons; Web programmable via Windows or Mac PCs; excellent button layout and overall design; supports custom sequences/macros; sub-$80 price tag.

Only controls five devices; requires Internet-connected PC to program; an additional $20 gets you the step-up model with a color screen and graphical icons.

If you can't spend $100 or more on a universal remote, the Logitech Harmony 600 is a great choice.

Logitech Harmony 600 Remote Review

Even though I've owned tons of audio/video equipment over the years, I've never had a universal remote. The best ones always were very expensive, and the ones I could afford never seemed to actually have enough buttons to handle all the functions of my...

An online setup utility programs the remote for you ; Nice button layout ; All functions are defined & accessible through the LCD screen if there are no permanent buttons for them ; Buttons and LCD screen are backlit ; Single-click buttons for...

Don't bother.

I hate having 3 remotes, I thought buying one to consolidate would be a "life saver". NOT. It's much faster to pick up a different remote then it is to wage through the menus of the Harmony 600 hoping you'll hit the right button. Mine is in a bottom...

It consolidates all of your remotes into one.

It will take 3 times as many button selections to get what you need, as opposed to using the remote for your actual device.

Worth the Price!

Bought this to simplify being able to perform basic actions after I bought a surround system. The setup was simple even though the surround system is not. You can make the remote do all kinds of things other than the standard configurations and I spent...

Works great

Keep in mind its limit is five devices. Also, it is not listed as a current model on Logitech's web site but that doesn't matter; it still works perfectly fine. Buying from this seller was just like buying from Newegg itself as far as delivery speed...

Fits well in hand. The b/w screen (hopefully) means better battery life than a color screen; I'm using rechargeables and they've lasted a month so far. "Wakes up" when you pick it up. Transferring my settings over from an older Harmony remote was...

One Remote Does It All

Configuration using the online application through the USB connection was effortless. I have five separate devices that were all in the online configuration database, so everything worked perfectly the first time. It's nice to not have to fumble with...

It's the cheaper Harmony 650

After two months of hardcore use by my significant other, this remote is going strong. It is basically a Harmony 650 with a gray scale screen (instead of color) and buttons that are black on white not white on black. It handles the same number of...

seems okay,

Seems okay, but having many issues with the remote keeping the correct codes. I think it has more to do with the user then the remote though :)

Great Remote

With the cons above in mind, they aren't nearly enough to even dock a single egg. I've never experienced the issue another reviewer spoke of with the remote rebooting itself, either (though it seems easy enough to fix via adding a small piece of foam...

Great feeling remote. Going from my former DISH 6.4IR remote, it's great to have a lighter, thinner remote that's smooth and feels great in the hand ; LCD display took a bit of getting used to, but now I love it and it's not a hinderance at all once...

Long initial setup time. Unlike most remotes, you don't enter codes to make this one work. Also, once you've set the remote up for your devices, Logitech's software really pushes for you to use its "activities" functions which I didn't care for....

I have used other Logitech remotes and like them but so far in the no RF remotes this is the best.

Supports everything I have - Onkyo, Sony, Alienware, Toshiba... I use shortcuts for PVR controls I use often like, DVR, search and many others so I do not have to flip through screens. Automatic updates are awesome
