Logitech Harmony Smart Keyboard

It might not have a conventional remote, but between a wireless keyboard with touchpad and smartphone/tablet app controls, the Logitech Harmony Smart Keyboard can let you do almost anything with your home theater system from the couch.

Very flexible smartphone and tablet control of your home theater devices. Keyboard is useful for text input. Two USB receivers can work with both a PC and an entertainment device

Requires a smartphone or tablet to configure. Keyboard touchpad isn't used with most entertainment devices

Logitech has made some big strides with its Harmony universal remotes in the last few years. They've evolved beyond simple remote controls into infrared-blasting hubs you can control with your smartphone or tablet. They haven't quite fixed the most...

Logitech Harmony Ultimate

When you name a product the Ultimate, customers tend to have rather high expectations for it. But I can understand Logitech's rationale. In many ways the Harmony Ultimate is a dream remote, adding RF (radio frequency) and Bluetooth capabilities to last...

The Logitech Harmony Ultimate is a sleek universal remote with RF, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, IR, and a 2.4-inch color touch screen that recognizes some gestures; it's Web-programmable via Macs or Windows PCs, but can edit commands without having to connect to...

Expensive compared with Harmony Smart Control package; poorly placed "transport" buttons; lacks dedicated forward and reverse skip keys; rechargeable battery is not replaceable; takes significant time and effort to set up large, intricate home theater...

Despite its high price and a handful of drawbacks, the Logitech Harmony Ultimate is an impressive, feature-rich universal remote that's well worth the investment, particularly if you have a lot of components in your system.

Harmony Ultimate and Smart Hub review: Logitech outdoes itself with new remotes

Until now, Logitech's Harmony line has been the name in user programmable remotes. Now the company's back with three follow-up products, and they differ

Keeps physical and smartphone remotes in sync ; High-quality hardware, easy to program ; More reliable macros than hand-held IR remote

Relies mostly on IR, which is slow and unreliable ; Programming options aren't as expansive as we'd like ; No API for third-party app compatibility

The Hub is the greatest addition to the Harmony family to date. While it's still not the remote we dream of, it's easily the best user-programmable option available.

Logitech Harmony Ultimate

If you can get past the price tag, the Logitech Harmony Ultimate is the most powerful, simplest universal remote you can get.

Powerful. Easy to set up. Bluetooth and app support make the remote even more flexible

Very expensive

Last year, Logitech's Harmony Touch universal remote control impressed us with a simple, elegant design, an easy setup process, and enough power to automate nearly any home theater activity with the press of its 2.4-inch color touch screen. Now,...

Logitech Harmony Smart Control

Although we try to go into every new accessory review with a clean, product-specific slate, it was hard to look at Logitech's new iOS-ready universal remote control system Harmony Smart Control ($130) without recalling the last few Harmony remotes...

Logitech Harmony Ultimate Universal Remote Control

Evaluating Apple accessories used to be a straightforward process. Each accessory arrived as packaged hardware, worked the same on day one as on year two, and rarely integrated deeply with Apple's devices. Speakers made iPods and iPhones sound better,...

Logitech Harmony Ultimate and Logitech Harmony Smart Control announced

Swiss-based computer peripherals manufacturer Logitech is back this time around, and they have a couple of devices for you to go through which should make life a whole lot easier and convenient, especially when you are one with so many different...

It does not matter whether you have finally decided to fall back on the Logitech Harmony Ultimate or the Logitech Harmony Smart Control, both of these devices will feature Logitech’s new Harmony Hub and Harmony Smartphone App that paves the way for...

"Good remote, but a bit complicated and buggy."

After spending a good 4 days messing with it, the Ultimate finally does everything I want it to do. It's a bit finicky, but once you learn how to program it, it's not TOO bad. Here are some things I'd like to mention that I like or don't like about it:

It does finally control everything in my entertainments system...from the projector and screen, to the lights, game consoles, and AV equipment.

A bit buggy at times. I eventually got everything working, but not without a lot of trial and error. Read my summary for more details.

Consumer review by:

"It does almost everything I had hoped it would."

I have tried several off-the-rack universal remote controllers (URC), only to find they were not fully compatible. For example, these URCs were advertised as smart, because one could point the original controller at the new URC, hit the appropriate...

The setup is clear and well thought out.

I had hoped for more control over the settings on my receiver, but I got most of what I wanted.
