Logitech Harmony 700

Editors' note: Confused about how this model stacks up to other Harmony remotes? See CNET's Which Logitech universal remote is right for you? for updated comparisons and recommendations.

Powerful universal remote with great ergonomics; color LCD screen surrounded by five contextual buttons; most keys are backlit; Web programmable via Windows or Mac PCs; excellent button layout and overall design; supports custom sequences/macros;...

No RF compatibility; lacks touch screen and charging cradle found on more-expensive Harmony models; only controls six devices; somewhat of a budget feel; screen needs to be viewed head on.

The Logitech Harmony 700 delivers the bulk of the Harmony One's excellent feature set and ergonomics at a lower price point.

Logitech Harmony 700

Plenty of universal remotes work like a dream, assuming you manage to tackle the first step of setting them up correctly to work with all of your devices. The inexpensive models you buy at Radio Shack, or that ship with televisions and cable boxes,...

Ergonomic build. Backlit keys with tilt sensor. User-replaceable rechargeable batteries. Intuitive PC-based configuration software. Macro support

No RF control

Logitech's latest universal remote offers a familiar feel and similar functionality to the excellent Harmony One, but for $100 less.

Logitech Harmony 700

The Harmony 700 universal remote is a fantastic product created by Logitech. Although it won't pop the popcorn for you, the Harmony 700 has almost every feature you will need for your entertainment experience. We really wish Logitech would have...

The main up and down arrow rocker is perfect for scrolling through pages

The supplied wall charger is cheaply made and a power cradle is much needed

The Logitech Harmony 700 has fantastic features and is well worth the investment.

"setup is slow, tedious and not accurate."

consolidate all remotes

Consumer review by:

"Don't know if it works, can't get through set-up."

Logitech needs soem serious upgrading of their customer service.

None - won't set up.

"Great Remote"

I have had this remote for 2 years and have never had a problem, it's laid out well, is comfortable to hold, and has a nice colour LCD screen. The battery charge usually gets me through about a week and a half. So it only operates 6 things, how many ite

None I can find after 2 years

"Worst Harmony yet"

Worst than my previous Harmony; two-for-two: they were both worse than just programming a Comcast remote and dealing with less functionality.

None - this remote delivers on none of it's promises.

Poor battery life, even with new rechargeable set-up; Doesn't remember key commands; constantly tries to correct non-existent issues when it's working properly; says there is a problem with components when there are none; sets inputs to incorrect settings

"Works exactly as advertised.Multi-step macros are great"

Great product, setup is a breeze and the macros make it worth the money.

Easy to use and auto trouble works well

Unit needs a charging cradle

Consumer review by:

It works, and has two configurators, basic and advanced

I tried the more "advanced" Acoustic Research XSight Touch AARX18G for an hour or two and gave up because the software would not work. I know the Harmony doesn't have a touch screen or backlight, but what good are these features if you can't even set...

Windows and Mac OS support, plus Firefox support ; Logitech Harmony Remote 7.7.0 software has significantly more function and flexibility than the default online setup. Good enough for my modest needs

Documentation didn't indicate that Harmony Remote Software 7.7.0 was a downloadable alternative to the default "simple" online configurator. Backlight and a charging dock would be nice, but not essential for me
