Logitech Harmony 900

Our entertainment-center remotes are like tribbles; they look warm andwelcoming at first, but we swear they keep multiplying to the point ofoverrunning the living room. We spend more time swapping betweenclickers than actually pressing buttons… so...

Touchscreen adapts to specific situations. Feels great in-hand. Massive device database means it's compatible with most hardware. Simple macros jump between entertainment center functions. Rechargeable battery lasts at least several days away from...

Lack of OS 10.6-specific documentation caused us needless confusion. Can't control most bluetooth devices; needs $60 adapter to control Playstation 3. Advanced users can't program macros within macros for functions like TiVo's stepped fast-forwarding

After first stumbling because the remote lacked enough documentation, the Harmony 900 won us over. It expertly replaces all of your old remotes, adding activity macros and IR compatibility.

Survive the Setup, and You're Golden With Logitech...

Logitechs Harmony Universal Remote feels good in hand, though you may never come to know that if the convoluted, frustrating setup for it drives you to throw the thing across the room first. Thankfully, the company has excellent phone support.

Beautiful build quality. Blasts both IR andRF signals. Excellent phone support has you talking to a technicianin moments. And you'll need it

ComplexPC software installation and configuration required for setup. Manymodern (and older) A/V units missing from product database. NoBlu-ray player category. Completely befuddled by Roku's Netflix box.No rhyme or reason behind the preset touchscreen...

Logitech Harmony 900

We heaped a fair amount of praise on Logitech's Harmony 1100 universal remote last April. But the reality is that while that touchscreen device is supremely easy to program and drop-dead sexy to boot, it costs as much as the small HDTV or entry-level...

Touchscreen display; supremely easy to program; rechargeable battery; RF feature and IR blasters allow you to keep your gear out of sight

Expensive; not as sexy as the pricier Harmony 1100; free telephone tech support limited to 90 days

We think the 900's RF features are what really make it a better value than the pricier model 1100.

Logitech Harmony 900

Editors' note (January 27, 2010): Some Harmony 900, 1000, and 1100 users may experience difficulty connecting their remotes to the Harmony software when using Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard). More information on specific symptoms and the appropriate...

Sleek design, in terms of cosmetics and ergonomics; PC programmable; excellent button layout and design that now includes new Blu-ray-centric buttons; high-resolution LCD that offers a touch-screen interface and touch-sensitive buttons for navigation...

Price will scare off some buyers; PS3 control requires add-on dongle; dearth of user-programmable multi-device macros will frustrate advanced users.

The Logitech Harmony 900 is, hands down, the best universal remote control we've ever tested.

Universal remote with radio frequency

Many reviewers say that the Logitech Harmony 900 offers one chief advantage over the widely praised Logitech Harmony One (*Est. $180) -- the inclusion of radio frequency (RF) support. That means that the Logitech Harmony 900 can communicate with AV...

Radio frequency and infrared signals, quick web-based setup process, color touch screen, sleek design

Expensive, overkill if you only have a few AV components, glossy case shows fingerprints and dust, rF range not as long as claimed, can't create custom macros

Logitech Harmony 900 Universal Remote Review

This past holiday season, my wife and I remodeled our basement putting in a relatively nice media room with fancy in-the-wall speakers, A/V receiver, big LCD TV, Blu-ray player, AppleTV, and Nintendo Wii. All of those components having their own remote...

Well made ; Ergonomic design ; Great button layout ; High resolution touch screen ; Highly programmable via computer ; Controls up to 15 devices ; Included RF system

Logitech Harmony 900 Universal Remote Review

The Logitech Harmony 900 is the updated Logitech Harmony One, which marries a traditional button remote with a capacitive touchscreen for expanded functionality. What makes this better are the charging dock and the RF to IR control adapters.

If you've played with the Harmony One you should know what this remote feels like. The number keys are on the bottom, the navigation keys are in the middle and the activity keys are near the top. The touchscreen is responsive enough, and can scroll...

"Extremely limited compared to similarly priced devices."

I can't believe CNet called this the best remote ever. Logitech was great years ago, but it's not even close anymore.

Decent ergonomics on the remote.

* Cannot program multiple custom steps to a single button press.

"2' drop from couch to floor...$165 gone."

If you never, ever, drop your remote...this is the remote for you.

The most erginomical, intuitive, easy to program, user friendly remote on the market (under $750)

It breaks very, very easily. I think perhaps the common chicken egg has a more resilent design. This would be the perfect remote had the design team taken a few moments to study gravity. I suppose that's too much to ask.

"No Bueno!!"

It looks good...

The reviewer of this remote cant possibly have used the same remote as I purchased. Go buy a $30 multi-remote from a drugstore. Same functionality with a lot less cost involved.

Product Specifications

Logitech Harmony 900 controls your home-entertainment devices - even when they're out of sight (up to 100 feet away). When it's show time at your house, you won't see a jumble of remotes. You won't see a list of instructions. With RF technology, you won't even need to aim your remote or see your components or cables. It's easy to extend your reach and turn RF signals into IR commands your devices can understand. Just place the simple-to-install IR blaster and mini blasters near the equipment you want to control. No more complicated lists of what to turn on or which button to select. Everyone can select what they want to do - such as "Watch TV" - and your Harmony remote does the rest. You get easy, one-touch access to your entertainment activities - such as watching a DVD, watching TV, listening to music - as well as your favorite channels. Your rechargeable remote can go a week between charges. Just set it in the base station and it charges up. You won't be looking for batteries when you want to be watching TV.
