Considering that the PCM D50 is a quite a sophisticated and well made specimen, it's odd that Sony opted for a wired remote instead of a much more versatile infrared unit. Although the RMPCM1 works fine, you're tied (literally, by it's 6' cable) to the...

It is what it is.

I have this, but I don't use it much. It just seems easier to press record and have that second or two of handling noise than to fiddle with plugging in a wire. However, there are no surprises. It works just like you think it would.
