Amazon Fire TV

Amazon's $100 media hub offers an excellent combination of power and flexibility with an accessible, impressively smooth menu system.

Very responsive. Elegant design and interface. Lots of content and apps available. Voice search is functional. Flexible port array

Highly curated Amazon interface limits out-of-the-box Android flexibility. Game performance isn't spectacular

In some ways, Amazon is a lot like Apple. It doesn't invent new ways to do things, but it takes already established ideas and polishes them to a shine. It did this with e-readers when it made the Kindle, it did this with Android tablets when it made...

Amazon Fire TV review: the set-top that tries to do everything

Here's the thing about Amazon: We can't figure the company out half the time. Few things embody that quite as well as the Fire TV. The company is adamant

Fast performance ; Impressive list of apps, even at launch ; Voice search is convenient, fast and accurate

Voice search doesn't work within apps ; Onscreen keyboard is offensively bad ; Inconsistent gaming experience ; Carousel UI doesn't work as well on Fire TV as it does on tablets ; Many apps and games are buggy ports from other platforms

The Fire TV should be impressive -- it's faster and better equipped than most of the other media streamers out there, and does it all at a decent price. Right now though, features like gaming, voice search and ASAP are barely helping it keep pace with...

Amazon Fire TV review

My name is Dan Seifert and I'm addicted to cable TV.

Speedy performance ; Voice search that works ; Fun games that aren't a gimmick

Voice search is limited ; Missing key apps like HBO Go ; No live TV options

The future of shopping wants to be the future of TV

Amazon Fire TV review

When Amazon unveiled the Fire TV, the company beat its chest about its killer performance, superior search capabilities, and lack of a “closed ecosystem,” pausing in between each bullet point to clown its competition over their inferiority.

Slick hardware look and feel ; Voice recognition works well ; Snappy, easily navigable user interface ; Great remote ; Gaming is better than expected

Voice search is not universal ; Apps not pre-installed ; App load times are no faster than competition ; Game controller feels cheap ; Drawn out setup process

After all of Amazon’s chest beating, The FireTV might feel disappointing in some regards, but it’s still a great little streaming media box with a snappy, intuitive interface and plenty of promise.

Amazon Fire TV

Like the Kindle and the Kindle Fire , the newly announced Amazon Fire TV ($99) streaming media box is primarily designed to get you consuming Amazon's digital media.

The Amazon Fire TV is best way to watch Amazon Instant movies and TV yet, and Prime subscribers can stream thousands of titles for no additional charge. Voice-search feature is cool and works well. The interface is zippy, and Amazon content streams...

The user interface strongly favors Amazon Instant content over other services, and the voice-search feature doesn't comb through Netflix or most other non-Amazon apps. Some major apps are missing, including HBO Go and Spotify. The $99 price feels...

The Fire TV streaming-media box is an impressive living room debut for Amazon, with standout features like voice search, gaming, and superfast video streaming, but it falls short of being an elite streamer -- at least for now.

Amazon Fire TV Preview

The Amazon Fire TV is very competitively priced streaming and gaming all-in-one box at $100 though it doesn't undercut anyone. Roku and Apple TV are the same price and the streaming sticks are less.

Amazon FireTV Review

Amazon has decided to jump into this increasingly crowded market with the newly launched FireTV. The FireTV uses industry leading hardware to deliver Prime streaming service coupled with digital downloads and rentals from Amazon, but also includes...

Impressive hardware specs lead to a lag-free experience ; Voice search works as advertised ; Gaming with the FireTV goes beyond what anyone else can offer

Limited internal storage ; Gaming controller is an extra $40 on a device is already at the top of the price range ; No killer feature to make it a must have

Amazon has put together an impressive package with FireTV, offering specs to rival last year’s hero phones and positively dwarfing the competition in the streaming market. The voice search is unique and works well and the FireTV’s gaming capabilities...

Review: Amazon Fire TV

Last week, Amazon unveiled its new streaming and gaming set-top box, the US$99 Fire TV. Not only does it stream TV and movies from Amazon, but it also includes popular apps like Netflix, has voice search, and is a nice gaming rig too. Here's a look at...

The main differences among the competing boxes is the Fire TV is faster, practically eliminates loading times thanks to ASAP, includes voice search, and has better gaming options. If these features appeal to you, I would say go for it and pick up the...
