It likes to be known informally as ‘the fox', but Humax's cheeky set-top eccentric is far from all mouth and no trousers

The ‘fox on the box’ lives up to its billing, with excellent picture quality and a bargain price tag. A finer budget set-top you'll struggle to find

This cracking performer ticks all the right boxes: a bargain digital TV solution

Great picture; good value

Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs

This is without doubt the worst piece of consumer electronics I have ever had the misfortune to come across - the specification is good on paper but in practice it has been unreliable and bug-laden, coupled with customer support that ranges from inept...

Extremely buggy box

Like lots of other people who have made the mistake of buying this box, I have found to my extreme annoyance that its not fit for purpose. I am in the proccess of trying to get humax to replace the box with a different model as I am on my 2 replacement...

good image and sound quality

set up is easy but have experienced conflicts with overall control through the handset which results in frequently having to reset it all. This is annoying

sensative and easily tuned digital receiver

I would like some means of defragmenting the HDD, It can be formatted, but this means losing all recorded programs, even those I would like to keep

Easy to setup, good remote, good picture quality even on 4:3 TV, sensitive tuner, picks up all available channels.. Haven't had to reset it once yet, seems to be reliable

A bit pricey compared to other Freeview boxes, larger than most

More bugs than you could shake a stick at...

This is one of the more expensive freeview players and so I was expecting it to be markedly better than its cheaper rivals. This, unfortunately, is not the case. There are two major ongoing technical issues that I have experienced with this box and I...

Widely reported problems - zero interest from Humax. Look elsewhere

As with other reviewers (& widely reported elsewhere on forums), there is a problem with this box 'locking up' & becoming unresponsive. At present I have to re-boot & return to default settings every 5-7 days. Another reviewer reported, in line with my...

Great box, but no EPG Information

Very good quality picture, good channel capacity, and a good EPG planner, but... ...I got this box in June (2007) and noticed that after a couple of weeks the programme information dispappeared. I contacted Humax who said they'd broadcast a fix in...
