The batteries are rechargeable and last about eight hours

Truly portable satellite sounds, Well integrated with Digibox

Low power output, Somewhat limited range

There's a volume control (with a scale on the LCD) but no control over the tone or balance. It would be nice to be able to control Sky playback with the Gnome, or to use the Sky Planner to turn the Gnome into an alarm clock radio but as it stands this...

Change channel, get sound in another room

No picture, no mute button, if someone channel hops you’ll hear it, you'll need a Sky digi box and subscription

At £70 this is just as affordable as a digital radio, but with more channels and for Sky subscribers it's a no brainer

The Sky Gnome comes with a small transmitter that connects to your Sky box, and picks up satellite telly sound up to 30 metres away

The Sky Gnome is great for sports fans and news hounds but not so hot for music lovers

No it isn't an airborne garden ornament, but new toy from our favourite satellite company.

It's quite small and easily portable, which in conjunction with a 30m range and about 8 hours of battery life from a charge means it is easily prepared for use around a house.

Unfortunately there are a few weaknesses in the Gnome.
