TVonics DVR-150 review

Compact hard-drive Freeview recorder made in the UK

Environmentally friendly ; Tuning is simple

Design is not striking ; Crashes if left alone for a few days

An impressive little Freeview recorder with interesting and user-friendly features, but a few bugs and lack of twin-channel recording let it down

TVonics DVR-150 PVR recorder

If you have often fancied Sky+ with its pausing/rewinding of live TV and the ability to record one channel while watching another, but have barfed at the ongoing cost, then consider the TVonics.

80 hours recording, small, quiet, twin tuners, eco-friendly

Environmentally friendly does not come cheap

If you value the reduced running costs and environmentally friendly nature of the product, then you might be prepared to pay the consumer unfriendly price this PVR commands. But it cannot compete with Sky+ when it comes to programme choice or recording...

Stuff magazine

A new breed of Freeview Playback PVRs have invaded Stuff towers – and this British-made TVonics box is one of the best.

Freeview recording made easy. The DVR-150 is small, pretty and boasts a sizeable hard-drive. Only Murdoch's subscription-only box is a better PVR
