TVonics MDR-240 review

It's rather pricey, but TVonics' latest adapter is the first to meet government standards for Freeview receivers

Novice- friendly ; Good pictures and sound ; Twin Scarts

No favourites lists ; A bit expensive ; No modulator

£40 is bit much to ask for an adapter these days especially when competitors' products are offering USB media playback for the same price. However, build quality, performance and novice friendly software make the MDR-240 a reliable switchover upgrade...

TVonics MDR-240

With the digital switch-over already under progress, the thoughts of many viewers are turning towards the subject of a set-top box to work in conjunction with their existing analogue television set.

While the remote control might be considered large and not easily mislaid, the same can not be said to be true for the supplied Guide Book. This A6 booklet is small enough to be an obvious target for the Borrowers – that noted family of Impish...

Poor Customer Support

The picture was fine on the screen, but my DVD/HDD recorder complained that the signal from the MDR240 was Macrovision protected and wouldn't record it. TVonics customer support were clueless and disinterested.

My daughter's philips freeview box gave up the ghost after three and a half years. Reviews of new philips models weren't very good but this one was.

Brilliant if you get Welsh by mistake

Changed my terrible Ferguson model for this one and wow ! what a difference. It works quickly and the remote is easy to use and very sturdy. One excellent feature is that if you pick up Welsh Channels mixed with you own area it asks which you want to...

So good I bought a second one

Simple to set up, simple to use with an excellent remote control, and the manual, unlike many, does not seem to have been translated from Korean into English by someone who speaks neither language - not that you really need the manual as everything is...
