Doesn't do a very good job with PDF417 barcodes, needs multiple passes and requires the PDF417 barcodes to be printed crisp and "large".

The swipe-style fingerprint scanner works well, and using fingerprints for Windows log-on will increase your security. Fingerprint security on return from the screensaver is good, too.

This scanner uses LEDs rather than a true laser. Haven't tried a real laser-based scanner so I don't know how this one compares. No complaints though.
