Canon CanoScan FB620P Flatbed Scanner (Parallel)

Great until Windows XP

This is a great beginner scanner on Windows 98 or older..does not work with XP...found out the hard way. Great for scanning & cropping photos for email.

Canon CanoScan FB620P Flatbed Scanner (Parallel)

I have a FB620P and it was a good unit...but wait.

Do not even think of buying this scanner if you are running XP or Win2k. It will not work on either operating system. There are no drivers available from Canon to upgrade from Win98 to 2K or XP. I wont buy another Canon product because of this.

Extremely Affordable Scanner

I needed a scanner, not to do any professional work, just to scan some pictures. I didn't have much money to spend. I was lucky to find this scanner for $35 in a closeout sale.

Only $35, Easy to Install, Decent scanning results

Colours somewhat faded, not for professional use

Short Lived Scanner

Slim design, Price

Inadequate Software, Short Life Span

Consumer review by:

Everyone has to have a first scanner. This is mine.

Compact, cheap, reasonable scans, easy to set up

Slow, LED technology very sensitive to wrinkles. Did i say it was slow?

I do not know where the "estimated price" of $99 comes from, and I'll never understand computer marketing in America. I bought this scanner one holiday weekend for $50, with a $30 mail in rebate (which arrived a few weeks later). For the price it's...

Product Specifications

Unlike any other scanner you've ever seen! The new FB620P incorporates traditional Japanese design elements to create a striking visual impact. But it doesn't just look good, it produces professional quality scans at 600dpi. Set up and installation are so easy, with parallel port connection and bundled CD-ROM software. Color image processing is a powerful tool for the visual imagination. Which is why hardware should be artware, objects that resonate with the creative spirit of their user. The CanoScan FB620P features curved front faces which reflect the graceful contours of sakazuki, the lacquered wine cups raised on auspicious occasions. And viewed from the side, the scanners' streamlined lengths evoke the stark elegance of katana swords. This combination of elements results in flatbed scanners that look like no other, giving them a form that pleases the eye as much as their advanced technology supports the imagination. As you explore the vistas of your own aesthetic vision, either model is bound to provide a welcome, artful presence to your desktop. The CanoScan FB620P produces professional quality scans at 600dpi, with software interpolation from 25 to 2400dpi. At the foundation of the FB620P is Canon's advanced LIDE technology, an array of sensors spanning the entire width of your document, so that images are produced without distortion at the edges. And in addition to sharp images, you also get fantastic color quality - 10 bit input for red, green and blue means your scanner recognizes over a billion different colors. The CanoScan FB620P's parallel port interface provides simple installation with your PC - just plug it in, and you're ready to scan! What's more, the CanoScan FB620P can be slotted into the link between your PC and printer for convenient switching between scanning and printing, or even straightforward color copying. Excluding printers using Windows Printing System (WPS). With a CanoScan FB620P, scanning will soon be second nature. All the software you need to scan images, edit and retouch pictures, import text or make straightforward copies is included on one CD-ROM. The TWAIN driver allows you to scan into a variety of applications, and control the size, resolution and color of your scan, plus a variety of other elements. The package also includes iPhoto Express, an easy to use, yet powerful photo imaging suite, and OmniPage LE optical character recognition (OCR) software, allowing you to scan text directly into word processing programs. Finally, CanoCraft Copier acts as a photocopier on your desktop, allowing you to make full color copies, enlarge or reduce, and print out in one operation.
