Good product diminished by terrible Canon support

I have had this scanner since 2001. Worked great with Windows 2000, would not work with Windows XP. Finally found it (a) needed an ASPI Layer "fix" from Adaptec for the SCSI card, (b) updated software to version 3.6.4, and (c) had to be run in Windows...

M. Urbarger is right! I've been struggling with this for a long time and I finally found the answer! Canon USA is useless for this. Shame on them! Here are the instructions. It's only three steps: Step 1. Remove the 2710 driver from your computer....

M. Urbarger is right! I've been struggling with this for a long time and I finally found the answer! Canon USA is useless for this. Shame on them! Here are the instructions. It's only three steps: Step 1. Remove the 2710 driver from your computer....

Does work with XP

You just have to know what you're doing :-) I just got this scanner secondhand, and I have XP. Canon Australia support pages contain information on updating ASPI for Windows XP....

Good product (3 stars) but no driver available for use with Windows XP. I found this out when I moved from a Windows '98 system to an XP system. Planned obsolescence from our friends at Canon.

Canon CanoScan FS2710 Film Scanner

 

Not for the faint at heart

I have had this scanner for a year adn a half and have put nearly 5000 slides through it. I am happy with the overall quality of the scans for what I paid for this. I use this as a proofing tool-- I only get my negatives developed (when I shoot prints)...

Canon's Canoscan FS2710 Film Scanner = Great Scanner if you update software I bought the scanner in September 2000 and have used it scan hundreds of negatives and slides. The supplied software is limited, but it can be replaced with aftermarket...
