Epson Expression 1680 Professional

This scanner is suitable for those who demand top-quality reflective and transparency scanning.

The Epson Expression 1680 Professional is well suited for corporate graphics customers and those who demand top-quality reflective and transparency scanning. However, if 1200 dpi will suffice, the Microtek ScanMaker 8700 is a worthy alternative that...

X-bit labs - EPSON F-3200 Film Scanner: Millennium Dome

According to the company's official press releases EPSON F-3200 Film Scanner is targeted for 'professionals and photo-enthusiasts'. We decided to take a closer look at the digitizing quality and performance of this device to see if it will please the...

It's nice to see such pretty and elegant machines as the F-3200. It's also nice to see EPSON being so meticulous when developing each new scanner model. And still, the EPSON F-3200 Film Scanner is not quite the device they wrote about in the official...

Epson F-3200

The F-3200 can do pretty much anything - scan multiple film formats, scan to memory cards and even scan reflective photo prints (6x4-inch originals or smaller).

Excellent quality scans, 35mm, 120/220, 6x9cm and 5x4-inch film scanning and 6x4-inch print scanning at up to 3200ppi optical resolution.

No scanning control when scanning directly to a memory card.

So the Epson F-3200 does what it does well, but I can't help wondering why the print scanning is included: the scanner falls between two stools. It's not going to appeal to, say, top professionals and it's too expensive at £549 to appeal to the...

Epson F-3200

Epson's F-3200 film scanner is a mid-priced model aimed to appeal to both keen amateurs and experienced pros by marrying ease of use with sophisticated features. Think of it as a photo lab in a box.

The photo hobbyist or pro who’s shot a variety of film formats over their career and now wants to create a digital archive will probably get the most out of the Epson F-3200. Although the price might daunt non-enthusiasts, that’s about the only minus:...

Expression 1680 Pro

The 1680 Pro is a good choice for graphic professionals who demand top-quality reflective and transparency scanning. The only disadvantage is the cost. At £859 plus VAT (or £649 without the transparency adaptor), this scanner costs several hundred...

Product Specifications

A remarkable breakthrough in high-quality imaging, the Epson Expression 1680 Professional offers graphics professionals 1600 x 3200 dpi optical resolution and true 48-bit color. Optimized to consistently deliver enhanced colors, subtle highlights and sharp shadow detail, this scanner sets exceptional standards in quality, whilst maintaining Epson's dedication to ease of use and value for money. To ensure the finest image quality, the Expression 1680 Professional features four of Epson's most advanced scanning technologies. Micro Step Drive for high resolution, Dynamic Range Control to get the most out of transparencies, Simultaneous RGB scanning and Precision Optical Lenses providing superior full edge to sharpness and clarity. In addition the Expression 1680 features unique Dual Position Focus, which provides pinpoint focusing for both reflective and transparent media. The film holders supplied with the optional transparency unit (standard with the Expression 1680 Professional) eliminate unsightly Newton rings by holding the transparency away from the bed of the scanner. The Dual Focus system adjusts to focus at this new distance to give sharp accurate results. The Expression 1680 is built to the highest standards throughout, right down to the precision die-cast aluminum chassis, resulting in the highest reliability and allows high-speed throughput. The Expression 1680 offers the reliability and throughput that is crucial to professional graphics studios and businesses.
