I bought what looks to be the same item but with the Brookstone brand on it (made by Arcsoft). Installation failed on both my XP and Vista machines. I sat on the phone for 50 minutes waiting for Arcsoft technical support (not a toll-free number) and...

Does what it says it will do...

Easy to use and does what it claims to do but you do not have any control over the exposure of your slide transfer.

BEWARE: this is the same machine sold under different brand names and they are getting "DON'T BUY" REVIEWS.

This is the same unit that is sold as "Ion" and "Brookstone" that virtually all the users HATE and give 1-star, , "Don't Buy" reviews. Mine ("Ion Slides2PC") had the same plagued software problems that forced most other buyers to send their units back...

The Flashpoint 35mm Film and Slide Scanner converts your 35mm slides and film negatives into digital images, allowing you to easily preserve your memories without having to rely on a conversion service. Slides and negatives are placed into a tray that aligns each properly. at the touch of a button images are scanned instantly. The Flashpoint 35mm Film and Slide Scanner has a 5 Mega pixels CMOS sensor. It scans at high resolution up to 1800 dpi, and provides a data conversion of 10 bits per color channel The scanner uses fixed focus and automatic exposure control and color balance resulting in clear digital images without loss of quality. Uses 3 white LEDs as a back light source. Supplied with a USB 2.0 cable and it is compatible with PC's running Windows XP or Vista Includes software that allows you to edit, crop and resize your slides as well as convert your negatives into positives.
