Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500

The Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 is a capable and reliable document scanner that is fast in scanning to searchable PDF and did well in both text recognition and business-card scanning.

Very fast at scanning to searchable PDF. Met its rated simplex and duplex scan speeds. Good optical-character-recognition (OCR). Did well at reading business cards. Misfeed-free in our testing. Wi-Fi and USB 3.0 connectivity

You can't give a scan command from within an application. Scanning to some programs may require several steps. Only connects wirelessly to one computer at a time. Documentation could use improvement

The Fujitsu iX500 ($495) is a capable and likeable document scanner for personal or small office use. It met its rated speeds in our tests and lost almost no time when saving files to searchable PDF. The scanner did well in both text recognition and...

ScanSnap iX500 Scanner is a Lightning Fast, Dependable Way to Get Organized

Incredibly fast high resolution scans with virtually no jamming. "Scan to Mobile" feature works flawlessly.

Bundled software is slightly clunky with non-standard dialogue windows and navigation.

With its amazingly fast and dependable hardware, Fujitsu’s ScanSnap iX500 has made getting organized a resolution that I’m sure I’ll be able to keep long after my New Year’s decorations have been put away. If only my other resolution were so easy to keep.

Fujitsu ScanSnap ix500 review

Great for businesses that regularly deal with hundreds of hard copy pages, but others could do better with an MFP or portable document scanner

Review: Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500

Fujitsu's ScanSnap iX500 is as multitalented as desktop scanners come.

A fast desktop scanner that’s good value, extremely easy to use and includes support for wireless mobile devices.

Best scanner in its class but could be better

We've used ScanSnaps for years, they're great and the only desktop scanners I will buy. The hardware design is impeccable and if taken alone deserves 5 stars. It loses a star because software is always the weak point with Fujitsu. For example, you...

Fast Excellent scan quality Rarely jams and misfeeds, easy to clear when it does Scans to your notebook or mobile device via WiFi OCR accuracy is excellent

Cannot share over the network Switching between WiFi and USB requires you to physically unplug USB cable. Won't scan long pages after short pages. Software runs in foreground only OCR function not optimized

Fujitsu iX500 (PA03656-B005)

I haven't used the wifi built into it so I can't comment on that.

Worked right out of the box. It's fast and hasn't jammed much over the year that I have had this.

Software was a little bit confusing at first but it didn't take long to figure out.

Excellent scanner

I tried the Neat system and their NeatConnect scanner before this. The scanner would constantly not grab the documents, and some that it did it would crumple to hell. The software was horrendous and their "cloud" processing was slow. Takes 30-45...

Extremely fast, good image quality, excellent included software, wireless

No TWAIN drivers. But I bought this to scan documents/reciepts, which it is designed for - no pictures. I'll use my AIO printer for that.

No twain or wia drivers

Seemed well put together, software installed successfully

Does not have WIA, ISIS or TWAIN drivers, which means it's not really a scanner in my book

Works better than the last model

I purchased this to replace the old Fujitsu scanner (which I really liked). The document feed on this new one works better. It is also better at detecting misfeeds

Note that you need to download and install any software updates from the Fujitsu website. The software will say it is up to date when it is not
