Review: Fujitsu ScanSnap S300M document scanner

 

Fujitsu's ScanSnap S300M takes the technology from the company's desktop document scanners, and puts it into a portable device. The S300M is speedy and easy to use, but it does have some limitations.

Unfortunately, Fujitsu doesn't bundle any OCR software with the S300M. However, since you can scan to a PDF file, you can use Adobe Acrobat's OCR Text Recognition feature

Takes up small area on desk.

 

The only dislike it is not being recognized, we have a S1500 with the same problem on a different computer.

When it scans it is very good

You have to restart the computer sometimes twice for it to recognize the scanner or it will not pick up the paper to scan

Accurate, Fast and Portable - Great Scanner but...

 

I use this to scan in signed documents for my military reserve work and it scans great. Scans to PDFs that can be searchable only by the included ScanSnap organizer, but not by windows search tools. If you want true OCR, you need a higher end scanner...

Accurate, Fast and VERY portable

ScanSnap software for OCR for you to edit the documents is not existant. Dont expect to scan a document then edit it in Word - you need the 500 series for that as no TWAIN driver is available

Besides the title, I still have to almost manually feed each receipt, unless I am stacking letter sized receipts. Get the NeatWorks bigger scanner. It has slots for many types of sizes. The edge guide mover and doesn't keep the receipt from jumping up...
