HP 5300CSE is a great scanner. I scanned all kinds of photos and some documents for faxing the first week I had it. It works great with no problems, and through the USB connection it's pretty fast too.

My biggest problem with this scanner is that it has no software to adjust the picture (contrast, color, size, etc) in any way, except trimming, either prior to or after scanning. You can't even rotate the picture! Most times this is just an annoyance...
