HP Scanjet G3110 Photo Scanner

Installation is simple: Remove the packing materials, run the automated installation routine from disc, and plug in a USB cable when the program tells you to. I ran my tests on a Windows XP system, but the scanner also comes with a full set of scan...

Does a reasonably good job with photographic prints. Convenience scanning for slides and strips of film

Slow. Customizing settings is cumbersome

The HP Scanjet G3110 Photo Scanner combines a capable, if slow low-cost scanner for photographic prints with additional features suitable for occasional use.

Review: ScanJet G3110 flatbed scanner

If you're in the market for an affordable photo scanner with the ability to capture accurate color and detail, along with the occasional slide or film scan, the HP Scanjet G3110 is worth considering.

Very good overall image quality ; Built-in transparency adapter

Slow scan speeds

The G3110 has a dark gray body and a shiny and curved, off-white lid. Four buttons built into the lid allow you to scan to file, PDF, to email or to a printer (copy). The transparency adapter allows you to scan a single 35mm filmstrip or four...

No other flatbed scanner measures up to the HP at this price point

HP Scanjet G3110

The HP Scanjet G3110 is a neat looking photo scanner at a good price, but it's slow to scan and may have a driver glitch.

Straight to PDF scan ; Quick OCR conversion ; Colour restoration and dust removal

Slow scans, even for price ; Driver installation glitch ; OCR not that accurate

The driver offers comprehensive control of the scanner, and includes colour correction plus dust and scratch removal. Both of these are reasonably effective, though not up to the standard of applications like Digital ICE.

Competent, but slow

High density, accurate scanning at a reasonable price from a reputable vendor

It's a bit slow. Under Windows 7, it doesn't remember the sheet size, so you have to preview every shot and adjust. Plus, although the scanner looks like it will handle legal size paper, it's shorter than that by about two typewritten lines

God Awful Driver/Software?

The price. The one button copy function

Most user hostile interface I've seen since UNIX
