If you're in the market for an affordable photo scanner with the ability to capture accurate color and detail, along with the occasional slide or film scan, the HP Scanjet G3110 is worth considering.

Competent, but slow

High density, accurate scanning at a reasonable price from a reputable vendor

It's a bit slow. Under Windows 7, it doesn't remember the sheet size, so you have to preview every shot and adjust. Plus, although the scanner looks like it will handle legal size paper, it's shorter than that by about two typewritten lines

God Awful Driver/Software?

All settings are made prior to scanning with no ability to edit without exiting & firing up the scanner again. I publish to pdfs. File size is important to me. With my old scanjet I could scan with defaults then look at a 256 adaptive palette image to...

Driver kept crashing. Never got to use. Returned

It was cheap

Never got past install. For some reason the driver consistently crashed in the same place in install. Returned to store and got Epson V500. I am very hapy with it

Instruction manual is not easy to follow nor covers the product operation very well.The only way I can scan without getting the slide holder into the scan, is to place a blank sheet of paper over what I am trying to scan. I looked through the manual...
