Mustek BearPaw 1200CU

Mutek's compact, space-saving scanner falls short in speed tests.

The $100 BearPaw 1200CU is best suited for home users who want a low-priced, compact scanner with easy-to-use buttons.

A fast unit capable of handling heavy OCR work.

When the add-on automatic document feeder becomes available, the Mustek BearPaw 1200F could make an especially sensible choice for anyone who needs a fast unit capable of handling heavy OCR work. But if scan quality matters more to you, scanners such...

Documentation and directions if quite poor. Simple B&W copy of doc fails consistenly in Windows 98. Negative scanning poor; h/e/ 4x6 color prints scan well into Adobe. Web site non responsive to consumer.

Bought the machine through an AOL program but it gave the impression that a Mac user could operate the thing. I actually can get it to scan on my Mac but without the use of buttons. Just with soft ware and it's limited.

I hate it! I was ripped off when I bought this. How could I know that I would never be able to ugrade it to a new Operating System. You could at least write new drivers for Windows XP and Windows 2000. I feel cheated! Rose Mary Hughes
