Seriously considering returning this scanner.

 

Buy something else.

When it works, it's good

Took an eternity to get the damned thing to work. Had to load the program 6 times before it worked. Since loading it, I have had nothing but problems, the damn thing just keeps crashing. Now I just cant get the damn thing to work at all

Could not get a single successful scan. Not bitmap, color or grayscale. Unit froze up every time I tried. Computer is a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard. I also tried to scan after connecting to an older Dell, and no luck there, either. Kept getting an er

Gets the job done quickly. When scanning a magazine or anything other than a photo, I must press down on the lid to get a clean scan.

Hardware great, software... not so much.

 

Just what the title says. The hardware does very well but the included software is very lacking. Not much control, it wants me to download wallpaper with a little smiley face button?!?! I would like to be able to tweak settings a lot more than this...

Product Specifications

The ScanExpress A3 USB is a USB scanning solution for A3 size. It features high-resolution, color accurate scans up to 297 x 431 mm. That is large enough to scan an A3 size drawing or two A4 size pages simultaneously. The scanners include image-editing and photo-retouching software as well as optical character recognition software. With its 48-bit color abilities, the ScanExpress A3 can capture over 68.7 billion colors in a single-pass internally. The 48-bit data is used by color management software to accurately display and reproduce the best possible 24-bit image. The ScanExpress A3 USB is truly a cross-platform scanner. It includes all the software and hardware necessary to operate under Windows environments. The installation is easy with USB Interface. The long-life cold-cathode lamp inside the ScanExpress A3 provides up to 35, 000 hours of scanning time. The ScanExpress A3 has an optional transparency adapter. The transparency adapter allows scanning, of materials such as slides, negatives and transparencies.
