The new software upgrade (V4, SP3) changes everything.

If you love to do "expense reports" by hand, you would still find this scanner worth the money. I bought mine used, tried to use the V3 software that came with it, but had too many issues. I downloaded the V4 upgrade and after ten minutes with the...

V4 is vastly improved, makes it MUCH easier to use. Small footprint, only a USB cable for power and data, fast scanning, use for expense reports, business card filing and organizing, as well as documents of any kind

Sheet feed only, not books or magazines. Doesn't even try to recognize handwriting

Don't Waste Your Time

I do a lot of road travel, and company requires a lot of document scanned and set via email to them. I likes the small, usb powered feature but it stops there. Receipts fed sideways are okay, but don't expect to feed an 8 1/2 by 11 or 14 and expect it...

Small, lightweight, portable usb powered

Won't feed straight, software not compatable with anything else, i.e. Word, Excel, Wordperfect

Not meant for large paperwork

Only a careful use of scanner will produce good results (steady hand movement). Cant handle load beyond 9 pages.

It is suited for small paperwork

Cant handle load beyond 9 pages, careful handling required

Awful! Do not buy.

Their tech support is non existent and maddening. You post your issue to a portal, there is no human to talk to, their response takes days. When you finally get a response, it is often inadequate (giving me answers for Vista when I'm running XP) and...

Small and portable

Crappy software, crappy tech support, crappy installer/uninstaller

great hardware, software needs work

Good scanner for storing receipts on the road, but you still need someone to input all the data into expense reports or Outlook.

Scanner quickly produces crisp, high quality color and B&W PDF's

The software needs work. Drivers are a pain to install, and every time I plug in the scanner my laptop thinks it's discovered new hardware ; The included software is decent at organizing documents, but its text-recognition is useless ; no doc feeder

Great hardware ruined by abysmal software.

$200 for a scanner? STRIKE 1. I'll overlook that if the scanner is stellar.

Small, USB-powered, hard-shell carrying case

PRICE, bloated software that requires .Net 2.0 to be installed, requirement to register (???) the software. This is a scanner, not MS Word - why the heck would you ask for users personal information? They're paying for the hardware

A pricey way to get organized, but it does work

Smart tip for all users: download the software from Neat's site and install. You're sure to get the latest version that way. When you install, you'll be prompted to sign up for a 30 day trial of NeatCloud, which sounds fine, but once I saw the monthly...

Sometimey

Its very helpful to have the neat desk but when i am doing files over 10 pages i run into problems. I have to wait for a few hours before the scanner will be able to work again. this is not as convent as i would like

Do NOT use it for tax records - it can't be trusted to keep records

I've had the product for about 4 years now. I use it for business expenses. Thank goodness, I make an external image and that is stored by my expense record company. IF you have been saving tax records using this electronic method (you can now), be...

Not for Quickbooks

If you are looking for a way to scan and organize your receipts, the scanner and software are great. If you are looking for a way to integrate that with Quickbooks, forget it. Comments from Neat state that they have "thought about" including quickbooks...
