Good hardware (sorta) but software is UNSAT

Good for scanning receipts ; Fair B&W quality ; Compact, light, USB, low power, silent, stylish

Poor color distribution algorithm (always too dark) ; Very poor alignment which causes lots of distortion ; OCR can't read hand-written notes

Great for what it is designed to be for.

Nice hardware, bloated, slow, inflexible software

$200 for a scanner? STRIKE 1. I'll overlook that if the scanner is stellar. I had high hopes for the NeatReceipts portable scanner. Sadly, the software is the weak link in the chain and a scanner is only as good as the software that supports it. ...

The actual USB scanner itself is well made. It comes with an excellent, hard-sided case for safely transporting the scanner

The software, while aesthetically pleasing, is functionally useless. It relies on Microsoft Dot.Net 2.0 to be installed, is extremely slow to process scans and takes up huge amounts of memory

DO NOT BUY v3.0 - it's not current version or upgradeable for free

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE -- I would suggest that you NOT purchase the NeatReceipts v.3 product. Version 3 is the old software, and the data file is not upgradeable to Windows 7 without a paid upgrade to NeatReceipts v.4 which is their current version...

The software was very difficult to install, I had to resolve issues

The software took along time to resolve the issues and now I have to solve getting the scanner to mount or run, it lights up but I haven't been able to get it to scan the receipt yet, it's been pretty labor intensive on what I thought would be very easy
