Plustek OpticFilm 8200i Ai

The Plustek OpticFilm 8200i Ai film scanner offers high resolution, hardware-based dust and scratch removal, and simple color calibration for scans.

Optical resolution rated at 7,200 pixels per inch. Hardware-based dust and scratch removal. Automatic color calibration

Scans only one slide or frame of film at a time. Little automation in software

The 8200 Ai ($499.99) is Plustek's top-of-the-line model for 35mm dedicated film and slide scanners. The next step up from the Plustek 8200i SE, it offers the same 7,200 pixel-per-inch (ppi) resolution and hardware-based dust and scratch removal, along...

Plustek OpticFilm 7200

If you have lots of slides and 35-mm negatives to digitize, the Plustek OpticFilm 7200 probably sounds like the scanner you've been waiting for. This low-cost film scanner ($199 direct) claims a resolution of 7,200 pixels per inch (ppi), theoretically...

Scans slides and negatives. Comes with SilverFast, a high-end, but easy-to-use, scan program. Includes a one-slide-size light box on top

Requires manual positioning of the film or slide. Scans one slide or photo at a time. Scan quality is mixed

The Plustek OpticFilm 7200 claims a 7,200-pixels-per-inch (ppi) optical resolution, but it doesn't truly deliver. High-resolution scans are marred by artifacts similar to pixelization. And the overall quality and acceptability of each scan depends on...

The Plustek OpticFilm 7200i 35mm Film Scanner; An Affordable, High-Resolution Scanner

Some believe film is dead, but I get as many e-mails from photographers as ever asking about film scanning.

Plustek OpticFilm 7200i Scanner

Amateur photographers and enthusiasts rejoice. All those negatives and slides need no longer sit in the dark like mushrooms. Bring them out, start scanning, and who knows what gems you'll discover and what memories will come to life. The Plustek...

Easy to set up and use. Small footprint. SilverFast Ai software and built-in dust & scratch removal is good. High optical resolution and good detail. Surprisingly low price. For the amateur photographer who wants easy access to their family memories or...

Dynamic Range is not quite as good as needed for professional work. Refinement needed in film profiles and format support. Slow scanning in high resolution. iSRD makes it crawl. Windows only. For the professional who has a requirement for a scanner...

Review: Plustek OpticFilm 7200 Scanner

Flatbed scanners are great for scanning pictures, sheet fed scanners are great for scanning documents and film scanners are great for scanning negatives. Plustek is hoping the OpticFilm 7200 is great for scanning negatives and slides.

Slow on very high resolution scans; price makes more versatile flatbed scanner or All in One device options attractive

Plustek OpticFilm 7200i scanner review

So you've gone digital? But let me quess, you've got a shoe box full of photographs that just aren't getting a look in over your digital collection? Plustek hope to change this with its compact, dedicated, 35mm film or negative film scanner. The 7200i...

Compact, simple to use, comes with SilverFast Ai software and has built-in dust and dirt removal processing. Good optical scanning resolution and pricing

Slow to scan larger files, even slower when iSRD processing is active. Windows PC compatible only plus some over processing removes detail when iSRD is on

A great little film scanner, one that is ideal for the enthusiast on tighter budget looking to digitise years’ worth of negs or slides

low price, low quality results, flaky software.

Produces a 30mb file from a 35mm negative with visible horizontal scan lines which photoshop cannot filter out. The silverfast software bundled with the scanner has no effective noise reduction feature. The negatives being scanned reveal no flaws where...

small footprint. seems well made. useful preview screen at top of unit

black & white negative scans are noisy. software has to be restarted frequently. I contacted tech support and they haven't replied

Very User Friendly. One Year P&L Warranty

After navigating through two other slide scanners, Minolta and Canon, I finally ended up with the Plustek 7200. I am very pleased with the results this scanner gives. The software is very easy to use for even the novice. I have been scanning my slides...

Simple to Use, Great Results

Very Poor User Manual, Wished that a slide holder was available that would hold more than four slides at once

The best at the price at the moment

At about €200 this scanner is the best value for the money. Scanning a negative at full resolution takes it about 2 minutes, yielding a 210 Mb file! 7200 dpi is actually better than the negatives or dias own resolution. Which makes it seem useless...

Easy install and use

Slightly lacking in color resolution
