Bought this scanner a year ago, Upgraded to XP. Now scanner is paper weight. UMAX does not support any version of windows past 98 for this scanner and according to their web site and tech support there are no plans for support in the future.

The UMAX Astra 1220P not only scans photos and documents at 600x1200 dpi resolution, this top-notch flatbed scanner is built with a parallel port to provide simple installation and ease of use. Instead of SCSI connectivity, the 1220P is a quick alternative to users who need a high-powered scanning solution. It provides 36-bit color quality with a 10-bit A/D converter and UMAX patented Bit Enhancement technology. The 1220P is an excellent addition to any graphics or corporate communications department. The 1220P ships with a full-version of Adobe PhotoDeluxe, NewSoft Presto! PageManager, Caere OmniPage LE OCR, and UMAX Copy Utility. The 1220P comes with a cold cathode lamp for long life and the lid is removable for those big, three-dimensional scans. The Astra 1220P also has an optional transparency adapter to give you even more flexibility.
