HP Proliant DL380p Gen8 Server

If you are looking for an SMB server that absolutely must handle the most demanding database transactions or outrageous amounts of I/O requests, the HP Proliant DL380p Gen 8 server will do nicely, and, for smaller organizations, even a lower-cost...

Excellent performance in testing. Sophisticated HDD monitoring and diagnostics. Smart socket guide protects processor from damage during installation. Server warns which drives not to pull during disaster recovery

Expensive. Deafening in high performance mode

HP's Proliant line of servers is in its eighth generation. These servers have become fixtures in SMB datacenters. The latest entry, the DL380p ($2,659–$14,000) is a beast of a machine. Not only can you completely trick it out spec-wise for maximum...

HP ProLiant DL380 G4

It may have the same look and feel as previous ProLiant servers, with maroon and dark-gray drive bay latches, but beneath the hood of the HP ProLiant DL380 G4 is brand-new Intel technology—and a decent implementation at that.

EM64T technology. Good WebBench performance. Well marked interior. Easy to service components. Insight Manager support software

Can't take full advantage of 64-bit until Windows Server 64 ships. PCI-Express cards of any type are still rare. Tested system didn't ship will full complement of fans and power supplies

Excellent server!

Excellent server! I bought some extra 2Tb hard drives to plus up the storage and this server has been flawless so far

Would be nice if it included a battery for the P800 controller. For the write caching to work you need to have the batteries

Great bargain on a reliable server

Also had an installed, licensed remote access ROM - I can control the server power etc. and open a remote console. Bonus! Purchased a second power supply and some rack rails (totalled about an extra $80) to have a higly capable, fully redunant server...

Came with the advertised CPU, memory and hard drive compliment. Aside from a slight bend in the cover (easily remedied with some pliers), in perfect physical condition ; Dual everything (except p/s - see "other thoughts") - CPU, memory (if you want to...

An older model (but I knew that coming into the deal) with under-powered hardware compared to a new model. But for 20 cents on the dollar or less ... what's to complain about ; The one I received had no "blank" for the second power supply bay. Notes...
