Jawbone Up3 review: a feature-packed disappointment

The Up3 offers only minor improvements over Jawbone's last model. And the few new features aren't very useful at all, especially when compared to what others offer in its near-$200 price range.

Elegantdesign ; Comfortable to wear ; Advanced sleep and movement tracking ; Battery life lasts a week

New features like heart-rate monitoring aren't that useful ; Expensive for what you get ; Still no built-in display

In the end, it's easy to be disappointed by the Up3. Even after its long delay and the omission of waterproofing, it still had the potential to be a different sort of fitness tracker. Unfortunately, it offers only minor improvements over Jawbone's last...

Jawbone UP3

The Jawbone UP3 tracks activity and sleep, and a new Smart Coach feature in the UP app gives you health advice based on your good and bad habits. While it does measure resting heart rate, it's short on other features, especially considering the price.

Stylish. Comfortable. Measures resting heart rate. Helpful Smart Coach feature. Good sleep monitoring.

Doesn't measure heart rate on demand or during activity. No real display. Finicky tap input mechanism. Not swim-proof.

A Better UP, but Missing FeaturesThe Jawbone UP3 is better than the older versions of the UP bands, but compared with similar fitness trackers, it's light on features for the price. Without heart rate on demand or during activities, the heart rate...

Jawbone Up3 review

It's been on my wrist for two weeks, and I barely feel it's there. I don't look at it. I don't take it off, except when it needs charging every seven days. It's slim and black, and has no screen.

Compact band design; one-week battery life; fantastic fitness app for coaching and lifestyle tracking.

No on-band display means you need to check phone for stats; band clasp difficult to adjust; heart rate limited to resting heart rate and sleep tracking at night. Can't be worn swimming.

The Up3 is one of the smallest super-slim fitness bands around, but its lack of a display and limited heart rate tracking aren't worth the high price.

Review: Jawbone Up3

Six months ago, Jawbone promised the world. Then it built a step tracker.

Wrist-worn wearable reads your heart rate, counts your steps, and tracks your sleep. Buzzes gently to awaken you at the optimal point in your sleep cycle. Nice slim design fits comfortably next to your wristwatch. It's OK to wear it in the shower....

For all the data it collects, the software doesn't offer enough suggestions to improve your habits. Accuracy is often lacking. $180 cost is too high -- the $100 Up2 does almost all of the same stuff, and the features exclusive to the Up3 are the ones...

Jawbone Up3 review: just buy an Up2

Jawbone's back. After months of delays (that didn't go unnoticed by customers), its latest flagship fitness tracker, the Up3, is finally shipping. It's "the world's most advanced tracker,"...

More informative sleep tracking than the Up2 ; Weeklong battery life ; Excellent and motivating mobile app

The silver one is ugly ; Gives only resting heart rate ; Terrible clasp ; Not truly waterproof

Jawbone UP3 Review – Flawed Ambition

There's a war on, and it's for space on your wrist. For years it's been fitness trackers like Jawbone 's new UP3 that have been sneering at traditional watches, but as smartwatches like Apple Watch mature, now it's the health bands that are under...

Jawbone is ambitious, and I admire that. Throwing a me-too heart rate sensor into its new UP and adding just one more metric into its app would’ve been the easiest option; instead, it picked a more complicated technology with far more potential....

Jawbone UP3 review

In a market filled with sub-$100 fitness trackers, how does the best from Jawbone compare? Find out everything you need to know in our Jawbone UP3 review.

7-day battery life ; Sleek and modern design ; Intuitive and useful companion app ; Accurate step and sleep tracking

Poorly designed clasp ; Bioimpedance sensors hurt the wrist ; Not waterproof ; No active heart rate monitoring ; No display

The Jawbone UP3 promised a lot but delivered a little. Although the UP3's aesthetics are something the competition can learn from, there are just too many sacrifices here. It doesn't offer a display or waterproofing, and the poorly designed clasp makes...

Jawbone Up3 Review

Lightweight design ; Colorful, easy to use ; Smart Coach gives you healthy advice

Annoying clasp ; No authentic sleep tracking ; Inaccurate heart-rate monitor ; Can't track heart rate continuously

The $179 Jawbone Up3 is a capable activity tracker with advanced sleep monitoring, but it doesn't provide enough for the money.

Jawbone UP3 Review: A Fitness Fiasco

The UP3 was supposed to be so much better. It was supposed to be fashion-forward. It was supposed to be waterproof. It was supposed to be more intelligent than any other fitness tracker. It isn't. I spent the last couple weeks trying to like this band,...
