A-DATA S592 128GB SSD Review

A-DATA S592 128GB SSD Review Manufacturer Page: A-DATA Technology Part Number: AS592S-128GM-C TechWiki Info: A-Data S592 128GB-TechWiki Price: about $4

Light weight design

Ancient firmware ; No way for a user to update the firmware ; Price ; Drive is lighter weight because it is a PLASTIC cased drive ; 2-year warranty

Well it certainly has been a rocky ride and one which we were not expecting when we first received the A-Data S592 since it is actually the

Very, very slow.

Does work, and is reliable. despite being slow, is still faster than an HDD in random reads. 59.3 GBs formatted.

Cheap? I paid $85 for it, and am considering RMA'ing it

Per CrystalDiskMark 3.0.1 ; Sustained Sequential Read/Write: 115MBs/30MBs ; 512k: 125MBs/15MBs ; 4k: 29MBs/2MBs ; 4k QD32: 60MBs/1.7MBs ; My Spinpoint f3 is competitive in the random writes, and beats in sequential reads and writes

Good Value

All in all great device. Increased battery life and performance substantially while making my laptop completely silent besides the processor fan.

Very quick SSD. HDTune reports 211.9 Mb/s read, 98.2Mb/s write with latest firmware and Windows 7 professional 32-bit installed. Windows Experience Index reports a 7.3 on A-DATA SSD vs 5.9 on the origional Western Digital 500Gb HDD

Locating and intalling latest firmware is a hassle to put it lightly. Requires a Bootable DOS CD or USB Drive, which practically noone uses anymore, However freeDOS worked fine with a little fine tuning. Furthermore, 32Gb doesn't last long after...

fast, its small and lightweight and has about 13gb free when installing windows 7 64 bit and turning off windows hibernate which frees up 6 or 7 gbs on windows 7 64bit

quit working on me. everytime i get windows 7 installed i get all kinds of errors and blue screens and my computer keeps restarting. i installed windows 7 on a samsung 7200rpm hard drive and had no issues at all. idk whats wrong with this ssd but i...

Consumer review (newegg.com)

It's fast, but could use some QC.

After searching for a few minutes (that is all it took to find that plethora of info on these drives having issues) I found that I needed to update the firmware on the drive in order to reformat it. After doing that the drive has worked flawlessly. I...

Great when it's working. But getting to that point was a bit of work ; Really fast drive! windows 7 64-bit boot time (from bios screen to operational) was under 20 seconds! on a quad core athlon with 4 gigs of RAM

Formatted the drive successfully. Windows crapped out and wouldn't format the drive again

Typical A-DATA mess

If I only listened to the other reviews. And A-DATA wedsite is a nightmare just to even find the firmware update believe me not??? Go try to find it for yourself I will wait. Even the links on the reviews will NOT lead you to the update. Thought I was...

None they always seemed like sub-par products all the things I seen from them. And who have a DOS disk now days

Doing a firmware update is just like the other reviewers said a nightmare. I bought a A-DATA usb flash drive years ago and it quit working one week later.NEVER bought anythings else that had A-DATA brand until this and I wish I had not
