The Crucial BX200 (480GB & 960GB) SSD Review: Crucial's First TLC NAND SSD

SSD manufacturers are under constant pressure to reduce prices and increase capacity, but the pace of Moore's Law is never enough to satisfy consumers. As the SSD industry has matured, manufacturers have turned to other strategies for driving down...

Crucial BX200 960GB SSD Drive Review

The Crucial BX200 960GB SSD Drive should be considered and excellent value for anyone looking to build a good performing PC or speed up an older one. We recommend taking any older computer (2-3 years old) that has a traditional platter drive and...

Crucial BX200 (480GB) Review and Ratings

The BX200 is a passable upgrade over a spinning-platter hard drive, but it offers little to recommend it over its competitors, or its BX100 predecessor. Until the price falls, plenty of better (and better-performing) options are available.

Great software package ; Good sequential read/write performance

Can't handle large data transfers well ; Mixed performance overall ; Not competitively priced, given performance

One aspect of this drive we haven't yet explored is the size of its cache for buffering write operations, which is 6GB on the 480GB model, and 12GB on the 960GB model. (The 240GB model has just 3GB of cache.) What this means: Whenever you try to copy...

Crucial BX200 960GB SSD review

Like their BX100 before it, the BX200 is targeted toward budget-minded consumers and those looking to upgrade their hard disk-based system to solid state technology.

We would like to see Micron/Crucial to introduce a faster TLC SSD before switching to 3D NAND.

Crucial BX200 SSD Review

Today we take a look at the latest launch from Crucial, the BX200 SSD. Released today it updates their value range of SSDs with a new controller and NAND so is more than just a refresh. Welcome to our Crucial BX200 SSD Review.

Looking at build quality first the drive provides a good level of component. We know that Micron (Crucial) make great NAND and so are always happy to use their drives. The Silicon Motion controller used here is an evolution of the previous gen which...

Crucial BX200 SSD Review

Micron announced its 16nm TLC flash five months ago, and Crucial's BX200 is the first product to take advantage of the extra bit per cell. Is this late-comer competitive, or is it overwhelmed in a sea of superior solid-state storage?

The BX200 ships with a nice software package, and aggressive updates could help with performance

High latency, high cost, low throughput performance and sequential write performance that is half of a modern mechanical drive

Crucial's BX200 currently suffers too many issues to warrant a recommendation. Just for fun, we went back to the company's C300, the first SATA 6Gb/s solid-state drive to hit the market, as a comparison point. It surfaced in 2010 and obliterated the...

Crucial BX200 480GB SSD Review

The Crucial BX200 480GB is targeted at users on a tight budget who don't want to sacrifice on performance. Can the BX200 from Crucial save your day?

I think it’s safe to say that the Crucial BX200 480GB SSD has quite a lot going for it when you consider the overall package and all sides to the story. On the one hand, you have a drive which isn’t only just competitively priced, but offers a large...
