Crucial m500 (960GB)

The Crucial m500 (960GB) internal solid-state drive (SSD) trades some performance for encryption capabilities and a larger pool of redundant flash.

A huge storage pool at an excellent price. Hardware support for cutting-edge encryption standards.

Slightly lower performance than alternatives from Samsung and Sandisk.

Conclusion The m500's performance is somewhat slower than that of the other drives we compared it with, but its encryption capabilities and redundant storage should appeal to buyers who care more about security than raw performance. Its data parity and...

Crucial M500 960GB review

The Crucial difference between this and the EVO? Pure performance

Very good price ; Good performance ; Temperature control features ; Good RAID 0 performance

Not as fast as the Samsung EVO

Unsurprisingly, RAID 0 gives a nice bump in the headline sequential read/write scores. The reads jumped from 496MB/s up to 979MB/s, while the writes rose from 440MB/s to 842MB/s. When it came to dealing with the small bitty files of everyday use...

The solid state of things to come

Great value for money ; Good performance ; Capacitors to stop drive errors with power cut ; Temperature monitor

M4 series quicker in some benchmarks

Crucial's M500 series offers a glimpse of what the future might hold with the pricing of large capacity SSDs, and is a sign of how far the market has come in a short space of time. If you'd have said barely a year ago that you'd be able to buy a 480GB...

The world of SSD is expanding and this is my first foray but I am definitely impressed. I have heard people advise the benefits but to experience them is another matter. This drive was very easy to install and work with. Windows installed faster than I...

Easy to install. I cloned my Win 8.1 system disc to this SSD and it worked first time - used MiniTool Partition Wizard Free.

No.

Crucial M500 480GB

Good manufacturer and good solid performance. Gives your older PC/Mac a new lease of life - if you aren't using an SSD for your OS drive then you are missing out!

SSDs in general are still at a high price point to capacity.

Crucial M500 480GB

Great drive, nice and fast.

It doesn't come bundled with any copying software like the Samsung equivalents. Factor in the price having to buy a disc copying programme if you want to clone an existing drive. None of the software to do this effectively is free so in the end I...
