Speedy! - Death 2nd review

I would buy a different drive. I just purchased a Samsung 500gb srive with better reviews and seems to be a more reliable drive. I will give this third drive a try. Mushkin after three strikes you are out in my book!

Very fast SSD! Loads and transfers very quick ; 3yr warranty or use limit

None ; EDIT: I am now on my third drive. I have had two drive die each lasted about four months. Mushkin has warrantied all of them but still a waste of my time! Starts with random freezes and then a system crash reboot and the drive disappears from BIOS

Updated Review

Overall I would say look elsewhere for an SSD drive as there are plenty of other options.

This is an update to my previous review (original posted on 4/14). I received my replacement drive via the RMA process (thanks NewEgg) ; As far as the Pros, there really aren't that many. The drive is working for me now, but the throughput is below...

Slower drive compared to other SSDs ; Drive disappears from Windows occasionally ; Coming out of stand-by the drive is not recognized (I've tried other SATA and SSD drives in my Ultrabay slot and it doesn't happen with those, so not sure what's up with...

2nd unit died after one day

Other price, none

First unit DOA. Second unit worked fine for a day then died. Will RMA for store credit. Won't waste my time trying a third

Great Product

Almost half a TB for a reasonable price. I had previously owned a Crucial 128 GB SATA 3 SSD and that worked fine, however this drive seems faster to me in both boot times and program installation. The crucial also disapeared on me a couple of times and...

Best Bang 4 Ur Buck

A hint to those writing bad reviews. I've bought numerous SSDs of all brands. Opinions are a..h-les everybody's got one.

The best performance out the box on lag time for me ; 540MB/s Read / 430MB/s Write ~ Installed W7HP in 2 minutes

Chronos strikes gold

Running this drive in SATA III on ASRock Extreme 4 motherboard, Win7 64-bit. No problem cloning the original drive with Acronis True Image. This drive is much faster than the Samsung 830 drive it replaced. Real-world benchmarks: Mushkin MKNSSDCR480GB...

Best price / GB for an SSD currently available ; Fast and reliable ; Made in the U.S

Relatively high power draw compared with Samsung 830/840 and Crucial M4 series (although really only a concern for laptops)

Used a windows 7 image made in windows 7

My first drive died in 2 days. my new RMA drive is DOA, my system won't see it in the bios. Called newegg for refund and they are great, they gave me store credit, I did not want another one of these drives ; I just bought and installed a Corsair Force...

migrated windows 7 to new ssd from an image I made using windows7 image maker ; It works great, don't let anyone tell you that you have to do I clean install and waste 10 hours of you time to get your one year old machine back up and running with all...
