1. Drive came without latest firmware ; 2., Drive very slow to format/configure ; 3. If you think SSD will give amazing speed...not with this drive ; 4. Drive crashed after 10 hours of use over 2 weeks ; 5. Cant return drive to newegg after claiming...

50/50 So Far

I also have an OCZ OCTANE (the higher-end version of PETROL that features the same Indilinx Everest controller but instead of unknown brand async NAND, the OCTANE has IMFT sync NAND. The OCTANE has been working great in my primary machine for over a...

Fast, relatively inexpensive for the specs

Bought parts for two identical systems. The OCZ PETROL worked perfectly in one, and isn't recognized at all by the second. BIOS hangs for a long time trying to detect/access. Tried it another system too, same result. Out-of-box failure

This drive CRASHES

Buyer Beware: Warning: if you cut out the UPC for the rebate - you cannot return it to Newegg! Beware!

Worked well before it crashed. Made it faster

It crashed after 2 days! I think this brand is not as good as the Corsair or the Crucial that I purchased before ; Warning: if you cut out the UPC for the rebate - you cannot return it to Newegg! Beware

Cheap upgrade

Get 2 of these like i did. I have one for windows and programs and one for games.

Fast read low cost for ssd. The write speed is slower then other ssd's but i am getting 166mb/s so its within specs. I have always had standard 7200 rpm hard drives so these are a huge difference

make sure you update firmware before installing windows on to the device. Also with my sata cables that came with my motherboard they would keep coming loose from the drive. Something to do with the type of lock on them. They had a top lock instead of...

Epic Fail

Watch your purchases and brands. I like OCZ but with the volume and demand SSDs seem to be capturing in the market it's a sure bet that quality and customer service may suffer. As most of the reviews here seem to reflect, Petrol may be out of gas...

It worked for a while and scored a 7.9 WEI on Windows 7

It started failing after a month. I'm a major OCZ SSD fan having purchased their Agility II and III lines and having no problems. I know what I'm doing and this is not a hardware issue related to motherboard, memory, chipset, etc. The Petrol was having...

OCZ Petrol PTL1-25SAT3-128G 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Stay away from this drive in you value your sanity.

Was really fast.. For a week

Started off with the drive freezing/Hard drive light on steady. Tested everything.. used Memtest, Changed power supplies (Let me add that I'm a computer tech). All components are brand new. Updated Firmware on the drive and installed fresh Win 7 64....

two lasted only 1 week

Inexpensive, easy set up

Bought one and set up was a breeze. Then dead after 7 days of operation. RMA and SSD #2 installed and updated lasted 6 days. Clearly there are serious reliablilty issues with this drive

Fun while it lasted

This is my first SSD and it was fantastic out of the box. Very fast boot and loading. Quite a speed boost compared to my old 3200 rpm drive that came with my laptop. However, after owning it for just over a month it will no longer boot windows. Looking...

Rather inexpensive per GB. speedy

Failed on me after owning it for 40 days. Corrupted files galore

It works

It works ; Seems fast ; This is my first SSD so I don't really have anything to compare it to. I bought it to house the OS and a few programs on a new build while everything else is on a HDD

None yet really ; 64GB fills up pretty quickly

Does Its Job

Not as fast as some other SSD's but I think its all about what the intention is for the storage. I put this in an older desktop build with an older processor and it sped everything up very nicely. Going from app. to app. is dramatically quicker than...

Does thr typical functions of an SSD and as far as I know, it does it very well. Bought it for a computer that I built for my parents and it worked good from the first boot. Happy with my decision to go for this one

None that I know of
