Great at what it's designed for, not so great for some needs.

The speed issues mean I use it as an offline backup most of the time, but I also don't worry about it- it's rock solid in terms of data security when used properly.

What can I say? It's secure and affordable. I've been using it as my primary backup for a while, and it's really good to have something you can just shove random drives in and know your data is safe ; Ability to mix and match types and capacities of...

Well, it's slow. Obviously it doesn't perform as well as a higher end RAID 5, which would provide similar data security (can withstand 1 drive failure without data loss). And in my experience, it's not limited by the interfaces available......

Short Life Cycle!!!

If you are dedicating hundreds or thousands of dollars to make sure your data is safe, you should be able to depend on the company to repair the device!

It takes care of everything for you. Easy setup and easy use. As with any RAID system, if one drive dies, which one of mine did, it keeps on going. Once you replace that drive it takes care of everything for you. If you add drives, which I did, it...

After it dies or malfunctions, which mine did after 3 years, they let me know that my unit "was past it's Life Cycle and could NOT be repaired". 3 years old and it could NOT BE REPAIRED. WOW. Are you serious

Super easy and fast

Great machine. Just what I needed but wish the 2 TB had been in stock as advertised. I went ahead with this one as I needed it fast and could not wait 3 days. I did not want to go to competitor as I have been satisfied with Staples.

Perfect for my needs

Works with the DISH Network to save movies, etc. We had several movies on the DVR and were making changes in our programming so we were trading in one box for another. This allowed us to keep all the kids' movies they like to watch again and again.

Works well but be careful

The Memeo software installed makes it very easy to use but be very careful with the device. One slip from the tabletop to the floor killed the hard drive and I had to buy a new one. If that happens to you be sure to completely remove the Memeo...

Happy as a Lark!

Have been usinng Seagate external HD's for years. All my data goes too my oldest one. Bought the new one as backing up data to DVD's is a long and boring chore. Now I just drag and drop what needs backing up and it's so easy and it saves using DVD's...
