Plextor PX-256M2S 256GB SSD

Solid State Drives were said to get popular and it appears, that's happening. A majority of people though are still clueless as to what an SSD is. There are those who think of them as external drives or larger capacity flash drives. In India, SSDs are...

It’s clear that the Plextor PX-256M2S is an impressive performer. The read, write and copy tests were all way higher than any drive we’ve tested, so far. The inter-copy drive testifies that. Usually, even the fastest of hard drives crawl at 40 - 60...

Plextor PX-256M2S 256 GB solid-state drive (SATA 6Gbps)

The GB Plextor PX-256M2S solid-state drive (SSD) shares the same design and 256GB capacity cap as the Samsung 470 . However, it supports the SATA 6Gbps standard and showed noticeable better performance in our testing, enough to justify its $600 price tag.

The Plextor PX-256M2S solid-state drive supports SATA 6Gbps and offers great performance. The drive works in any application where regular SATA 2.5-inch hard drives are used.

The Plextor PX-256M2S SSD is more expensive than traditional hard drives and even some other SSDs, and its storage capacity caps at only 256GB.

With excellent performance, the Plextor PX-256M2S SSD makes an ideal internal storage drive for laptops, especially those that support the 6Gbps SATA standard. Its price tag is not for the faint of heart, however.

Plextor PX-128M2S (128GB)

Because of the way SSDs operate, comparing speeds across capacities is seldom useful; higher-capacity drives are almost invariably also going to be faster (at least up to a point). PCMag is working on testing additional 128GB drives, and will report...

Supports 6Gbps SATA III. Includes Acronis TrueImage software

Slower than higher-capacity drives. No 3.5-inch mounting bracket included

The 128GB Plextor PX-128M2S offers modest capacity and modest performance at a modest price (for a solid-state drive, anyway).

Lasted 10 months

Won't boot past the windows splash screen. Windows System Repair disk finds no problems. Tried to reinstall Windows, but on restart, begins the entire install again. $217 for 10 months worth of use? OUCH!!

Worked great

until it didn't

Not a single problem

Nice to have a silent computer.... no HD rattling away when you do something. I've installed the quietest fans i could find, and set-up Fan Xpert so they only run as fast as they need to. Win7 64 Pro. Sabertooth X58 Motherboard Intel Core I7 960 3.2ghz...

Win7 64 boots to internet in 45 seconds from pressing the power button. Only getting 6.9 on WEI, even though it's running SATA III @ 6gps. I probably need to update the firmware, but i'm happy the way it's running now. I waited 4 months to review it to...

Don't think there is one..... Price? You get what you paid for, so price isn't a con

5 months later... customer wants more of the magic ; but this is no longer the most magical SSD ; but I'll tell what the most magical SSD is (as of 12/06/2011) ; Plextor PX-M3S Series PX-256M3 2.5" 256GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) ; Item...

No cons... absololutely NO CON ARTISTRY WITH PLEXTOR! Just an SSD (SIMPLE SOLID DOOHICKEY) ; Purchased for a customer's machine ; Customer declined purchasing one for me too

Fast, Fast and Fast!

The price dropped after I purchased them. Such is the luck of the draw. If you are building a new system and need something on SATA 6Gb that boot faster than you can think - this is the bomb.

These things SMOKE! I put these as the boot drives in a RAID 0 SATA 6Gb on a ASUS P6X58E-Pro Mobo. Boot time is less that half a minute (After BIOS load) to Win 7 Enterprise. Windows SEI of 7.8 out of 7.9 (I know, not much of a test!)

None so far

Plextor has always made good tech and this appears to be no different!

Blazing fast, rock solid! Machines wake up from sleep mode and ready to use in <7 seconds. Best modern PC upgrade you can make for noticeable speed in basic tasks

make sure you know how to partition drives and if your company has HDD protection software encription plus etc. learn to remove that and replace that also. i had to learn both: PAIN IN THE BUTTOX but worth every penny and hour of sweat

cheap ; Blazing fast ; sata 1 and sata2 compatable ; makes my dell latitude laptop MUCH faster ; cut boot time in half

only 128 gb but i dont use that much anyway
