The PNY CS1311 and CS2211 SSD Review: MLC vs TLC at 15nm

Phison's S10 SATA SSD controller has taken over a large chunk of the SSD market. It works with both MLC and TLC and is sold as part of an off-the-shelf SSD solution that allows companies to purchase complete drives with the controller, NAND (from...

The new cut-down S10C controller used in the 120GB and 240GB models do not seem to have brought any new performance limitations relative to the full-size S10-X used in the 480GB models and all previous Phison S10 drives we've tested. It's a...

PNY CS1311 SSD Review

We recently published a review of the CS2211 SSD from PNY's premium XLR8 line. The CS2211 is aimed at gamers and enthusiasts, and uses Toshiba 15nm MLC flash. The CS1311 we're testing today employs Toshiba's 15nm TLC NAND for more value-oriented...

The PNY CS1311 SSDs raise the bar for Phison S10 products with TLC flash. The direct-to-die write algorithm increases performance where these SSDs were weak

Even though Phison has worked to address the issue for more than a year, random-read and -write performance still hampers the S10 controller. If PNY wants to make a run at Samsung based on performance alone, then the company needs to push for more...

PNY makes some of the best SSDs on the market for companies without in-house controller IP or NAND flash fabrication. The two major components must come from outside companies, so PNY has to work with open-market hardware and make the best of what's...

Fast

I can't believe how fast the hard drive is. After always having used standard hard disc drives wish I'd switched to ssd long time ago. Hit the power button on the case, windows boots in less than 15 seconds where before it'd take 2 minutes or more. I'll...

Amazing so far

I have only had this drive installed and been using it for 3 days, but the benchmarks on it are great. Playing games has been a great experience. Load times are fast. Only time will tell if there if this drive has the longevity that my previous SSD...

PNY CS2211 480GB fast and easy

Owned this drive for about 1 week now. I upgraded from a almost 3 year old Crucial M500 480gb ssd. I mostly play computer games. This drive feels faster than my old M500, the M500 for instance when I jump into a match for Battlefield 4 and enter a map...

New 15nm Toshiba MLC NAND. 4 year warranty. Comes with Acronis free data migration key.

Works great!

If you're thinking about upgrading to an SSD, do it. I can never go back to using a traditional hard drive as a main drive in any machine from now on.

Swapped the hard drive in my four year old laptop with this, and the difference is day and night. Boots up in seconds and programs open almost instantly.

Great Product from an American Seller

I also have a 480 GB PNY SSD that I've been using for data storage for about 9 months with no problems.

Using with a Macintosh system for the main system drive; it was easy to configure. Device supports the TRIM file management which improves its long-term reliability.

Extremely Fast, Great Product

Still has one of the best price/performance ratios out there. Hasn't failed once. Boot time from power on to Windows 10 desktop is about 5 seconds. I used OCZ before and had multiple errors, but PNY products seem very polished, especially these SSDs.

-Faster than most 500ish GB SSDs on the market, best value due to speed. -Originally was on sale and has by far the best price/performance ratio

-Not quite as cheap as when it was on sale originally, which made it a steal -480GB, if that 20GB means more to you than speed, go Samsung.
