Sandisk ReadyCache 32GB review

The decreasing price of flash memory means SSDs are more accessible than ever. That's doubly true of cache drives, which use smaller amounts of memory to improve performance when installed in systems that still use hard disks.

Not quick or capacious, but ideal for those looking for SSD-style speed boosts on the cheap

Works as a standard SSD under linux.

Bought to be installed into a pfsense box, as I was planning to run Squid proxy on it. Works as expected, no issues detected. Equipment: OEM Production 2550L2D-MxPC Intel NM10 Black Mini / Booksize Barebone System - OEM

Works as a standard SSD under linux ; Cheap

None at this time

Great, just too small for anything important

Great price ; runs like a top

Too small for the OS (windows 7 ultimate 64 bit) even with all of the directories moved and games and music and other programs all installed on a separate drive

Software Not So Good

Hardware easy to install and reliable. Have it installed on two 64-bit W7 machines

When the cache fills up, boot times and other PC performance gets slow (even slower than without the SSD - boot time is an extra minute or more). Even though there is new software that is supposed to fix this, it doesn't help. When the cache is empty,...

Forget Benchmark Tests - Just Use It !!

This SSD cache drive fills a very specific purpose. Plug it in, install their Express-cache software and restart the computer. Then use your computer as normal. Over the next few days the software will learn all the things you do frequently such as...

Easy way to boost performance of a Windows 7 or Windows 8 computer that has a regular spinning hard drive ; See "Other thoughts" below for tips

This drive is NOT intended to be used by itself as a Windows boot drive and NOT intended for benchmark tests. For those purposes you should choose a standard SSD instead of this specialised cache drive

SSD Good, BAD SOFTWARE needs improved or replaced.

Does not work like I expected it to work. I bought it to speed up my 4TB media and data drives. (too big to replace with an SSD). It's unclear if it is block level caching or file level caching, and if it is even caching files from C: D: and other...

Easy Install ; Works as advertised ; Install, Reboot, open your favorite programs, reboot and open favorites two more times. On the 4th reboot everything you enjoy will be in the cache. As long as the files stay in the cache they work very fast ; YES...

No Support from SanDisk ; Caches auto-flush = mostly empty all the time, so it is idle and doing nothing but waste your money ; Mostly Empty and unused all the time means it isn't working. The software constantly empties the cache completely defeating...

Impressive Performance

I used this in a system build for a client. He didn't want to deal with having an SSD and HD in his system, so I decided to add this drive. He gets the speedy boot times while seeing only one drive.

Easy install, noticeably performance improvement

Doesn't bake bacon

Durable and Rapid

Installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS on this drive. Twice. Additionally this device has withstood dozens of hot resets and incomplete shutdowns while I tried to iron out some hardware issues with my latest build. It's light and compact but tough...

Lightweight and compact. Fast! Durable too - note Other Thoughts
