Toshiba 200GB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive

Toshiba, long a powerhouse in both notebook computers and internal components (including notebook-class hard drives), has entered the USB external hard drive fray. These small, portable hard drives are powered entirely through a USB link with your...

Largest available capacity in a pocket-size drive. Ruggedized for travel. "No-Touch" backup software included. Windows and Mac software included. Included USB power cable. Less-distracting drive-activity light

Could use a pack-in carrying case. Included software is more about document backup than full drive backup/disaster recovery

A 200GB multimedia storage device with the hotness, capacity, and speed to be a contender. It's a boon to the traveler with lots of data to back up on the road.

Toshiba 200GB 4200RPM 2.5" Hard Drive

It has been a while since we've seen a capture of the top spot in the mobile storage market, but Toshiba has come along and delivered a 200GB 2.5" drive. What the drive adds in extra storage though, it takes away in speed.

In our PC Mark tests, we can really see how CPU intensive the HDD tests are. Don't take these comparison scores too seriously, as the laptop is far slower than the dual core AM2 rig. However, you should expect similar results if you have a smokin' new...

Good but not great

If you are looking for fast boot up times and low power consumption consider a CF to IDE adapter and use flash memory. Limited storage capacity and higher price for the bigger CF cards but AMAZING boot time and noticeable increase in battery life.

Good product for the money ; Lower power consumption then a higher speed drive ; data buffer helps with larger file transfers ; Great capacity for the price

Semi slow

Great! Playstation 3

I bought this for my ps3 and bought an enclosure for my 40gb i took out. Found here at new egg of course. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817388011 Read my review about it and I think you will go for these two items for your...

I bought this to upgrade my playstation 3 hdd. So far no problems or errors and even at 4200 it still writes quickly

Not even close to 200gb. And before someone says I don't know what I am talking about I will tell you why. Usually you will get Raw 200 and usable 180 maybe a little less. Not the case here, Raw was 186 and usable came all the way down to 163. But, for...

To be now External

I just pulled this from my NewEgg 08/07 purchased HP Tx1220us Tablet and put in a 7200rpm 200gb Hitachi, and my laptop seems FINALLY normal!!! This has gone into a BYETC enclosure with USB2 and eSata, and works well there. After the rebate, the Hitachi...

Storage capacity is useless when the data is frozen

I've had this drive since mid october and I have not seen any speed above 10MB/S while using Vista, this is truely bothersome and had I known it, I would have not purchased this drive. It kills many of the works I do with photoshop, flash and...

Large capacity ; Newegg rocks anyway

SLOW: 10MB/S or less at all times

Works Great For External Backup

Lots of space for backing up your important laptop data, less expensive than the other 5400 and 7200 RRPM models

Too slow to use as a desktop replacement drive, unless you don't care and you have lots of time on your hands

Not for MultiMedia Application

i recommend you take either 5400 or if you don't bother heat and a little bit noise get 7200 rpm you will love it , it's extremely fast as i took HITACHI 7200rpm now 100GB and I'm using my old 4200 toshiba as external H.D.D

High capacity,Extremely Silent,no heat at all,Great for those who just want capacity and no performance at all

First of all when i got this H.D.D ; it arrived with 185 GB i don't know why ; It takes about 1 and half minutes to boot the windows with core2 due 2.4Ghz cpu,yes it is extremely SLOW,When you want move your files to external hard disk or even between...
