Transcend SSD720 review

The SSD720 solid-state drive (SSD) is Transcend's new, high-end drive designed to rival the performance of the SanDisk Extreme and Corsair Neutron GTX . Unfortunately, it doesn't quite get there. It's not a slow drive to be sure. It's just not quite as...

The Transcend SSD720 is relatively affordable and significantly outperforms any hard drive. The included desktop drive bay converter is a useful extra.

The SSD720's performance doesn't match that of its peers, and the included cloning software's functionality is limited.

If you're looking to upgrade your computer's main hard drive, the Transcend SSD720 is a strong option.

At less than $1 per gigabyte however, the SSD720 is more affordable than many other SSDs and its included desktop drive bay converter and mounting screws are useful additions.

Transcend SSD320 & SSD720 (256GB) Review

Transcend is a Taiwanese company specializing in memory and flash storage solutions. While Transcend may not be the first company that comes to mind about NAND flash, it has been in the industry since the late 80's. Transcend's USB flash sticks and SD...

The client SSD market currently has more manufacturers than it can feed in the long run. I'm not suggesting that Transcend will or should exit the market, but the smaller manufacturers with no unique products are the most at risk. What I would like to...

Silicon Power Velox V60 120 GB and Transcend SSD720 128 GB SSD Review

Two different manufacturers, slightly different storage capacity, but absolutely identical hardware based on LSI SF-2281 controller inside. This is the reason why we decided to combine these two products in the same review.

Transcend SSD720 256GB SSD Review

Transcend goes for gold with its new flagship SSD720 product that brings LSI SandForce performance to a new higher capacity point. The new 7mm package coupled with 24nm flash and working TRIM makes this the best RAISE free SandForce offering yet.

Transcend SATA III SSD720 (256GB) - More SandForce Goodness

The Transcend SATA III SSD720 is the latest SandForce-powered SSD to hit our labs. We put it through our tests to see how it fares against the current crop of SandForce drives.

Very good and fairly consistent performance ; Amongst the quickest high-end consumer SSD ; Attractive price

No installation brackets/racks provided

To summarize, consumers who are in the market now for a ultra-quick high-end SSD are spoilt for choice. And the Transcend SATA III SSD720 makes a strong case for itself thanks to its very competent performance and attractive price.

Transcend SSD720 512GB review

Is this SandForce based SSD getting a bit long in the tooth?

Good compressible data performance ; Decent sequential read/write

SandForce controller showing age ; 4K random writes not great

Notably, it delivers its impressive peak performance numbers beyond the 500MB/s mark courtesy of data compression. Which is clever, except that much of the data you shunt around, like images and music and video, isn't compressible. That explains why...

Transcend SSD720 128GB review

Another solid SandForce SSD, but has that controller had its day?

Solid speed ; Good price/performance ratio ; 7mm format for notebooks

Not as quick with incompressible data as others

Transcend SSD720 128GB Review (7.0mm)

If you are in the market for a new Solid State drive there is certainly no shortage of options available. Today we are looking at the new Transcend SSD720 128GB drive which features the class leading Sandforce 2281 controller.

Fast.

Better drives if incompressible data performance is a primary requirement.
